Levine, Powers win Hudson Valley golf

SULLIVAN COUNTY — August 16, 2013 — Madison Levine of South Fallsburg and David Powers of Eldred won their respective divisions of the Hudson Valley Junior Golf Association (HVJGA) played throughout the summer at courses in Orange and Dutchess counties.
Levine’s 18-hole average for the eight events in which she competed was 91.4, second best of the 10 players. However, Levine won the overall title based on the total points she earned. Her low round was 80 at West Hills.
Levine, who this past spring qualified for the state high school championship, will be entering her junior year at Fallsburg.
Powers, who won the OCIAA individual championship in May, had the low scoring average of 78.6 and most points in the HVJGA’s Birdie Division. He fired a low round of 67 at Vassar as well as a 72 at Stony Ford. Powers is entering his sophomore year at Eldred.
