Monti flag football goes to the Dogs

MONTICELLO – The Monticello Flag Football League concluded on November 18 with two championship games:
A-Division Championship
The Broadway Fitness Bulldogs continued their decade of championships with a hard fought 20-12 victory over the Ellenville Blue Devils. Matt Stoddard had eight completions in 11 attempts for 94 yards passing and threw for three touchdowns. Jamie Arroyo had 68 yards rushing and also caught a 13-yard touchdown pass. Ivan Rivera had three receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown. Curtis Price also had a 19-yard reception for a touchdown.
Antonio Simmons had a big game for Ellenville with eight completions in 16 attempts for 114 yards passing and two touchdowns. Simmons also ran for 43 yards. Joe Logan had four receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown and Mike Cardo had two receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown.
The Bulldogs got to the championship game with a 20-18 victory over the Punisherz and the Blue Devils were able to get by the Green Chiefs 21-20 on a last-second touchdown.

B-Division Championship
The Underdogz got off to a quick 12-0 lead and held off Dean Construction Spartans in the last moments of the game to win 12-6. Chuck Magos lead the Underdogz with five completions in 10 passing attempts for 78 yards and two touchdown passes. Christian Zube had two receptions for 41 yards and a score while Ryan Eich had a 21-yard reception for a touchdown. Joey Zippilli was able to disrupt the Spartans offense with two sacks and Magos also had an interception on defense.
Dan Walters did everything he could to try and lead the Spartans to the victory; he had seven completions in 13 passing attempts for 79 yards and also ran for 61 yards and a score. Bebo Pardes had 4 receptions for 47 yards.
The Underdogz got to the championship game with an 18-0 victory over the Paesano’s Pizzeria Indians. The Indians had to beat the SCCC Generals in the play-in game 27-6. The Spartans upset the Sullivan Jammers on their way to the championship game 21-7.
