Livingston Manor teammate Mike Mills (42), Dharamet Khangura, center, and Josh Janik celebrate after the Wildcats’ victory over Bridghampton at SUNY New Paltz in the Class D regional final.

Winter Sports Recap: Livingston Manor

By Rob Potter

Boys’ Basketball
Record: The Wildcats finished the season with an overall record of 16-6 and won the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Division VI title with a spotless 6-0 record.
Season Highlight: Winning its first ever Section IX and Regional Championships in boys’ basketball and making the [State Class D] Final Four at Glens Falls.”
Coach’s Comment: “It was a tremendous season in which we even surpassed my expectations,” Charlie Hicks said. “We had a great group of guys who worked hard and put the team before themselves, and I believe that is why it was so successful. We had nine seniors on the team, some of whom had three or four years of varsity experience. They knew my expectations and helped the younger guys out in practice and game situations. They all will be sorely missed [next year].”
Looking Ahead: “Next year will definitely be a rebuilding year,” Hicks explained. “I will be returning only two guys with a full year of varsity experience – Josh Janik and Jesse Jurgens. I will probably pull up some freshmen and sophomores from the JV team to start rebuilding so maybe we can have that chemistry and experience needed to make a run again in the future.”
Girls’ Basketball
Record: The Lady Wildcats had a 13-9 overall record this season and won the OCIAA Division VI championship with a perfect 4-0 record.
Season Highlight:Winning the [Class D] regional title and making it to the State [Class D] Final Four.
Coach’s Comment: “The girls had a great year after returning only one starter and starting off the season 1-5,” Kevin Clifford said. “The girls won 12 of their last 16 games, including the sectional title game and regional title game and making it to Troy for the State Final Four.
Looking Ahead: “Maggi [Calo], Victoria [Davis] and Monay [Allen] will be greatly missed, but we hope to build on the success from this season,” Clifford commented.
