Billy Moran Tip-Off Coming Back at SW

LAKE HUNTINGTON — November 16, 2007 — The Sullivan West Central School District has announced the dates for the 2007 Varsity Boys’ Billy Moran Tip-Off Classic and Varsity Girls’ Billy Moran Tip-Off Classic.
These memorial basketball tournaments have been recreated from the past Billy Moran Tournament that was sponsored by Delaware Valley Central School and the Tip-Off Classic that was sponsored by Jeffersonville-Youngsville Central School.
All of the tournament games will be played at Sullivan West High School in Lake Huntington.
The boys’ tournament features teams from Port Jervis, Walton, S.S. Seward and Sullivan West. The first round will take place on Thursday, Dec. 6.
Game 1, which begins at 6 p.m., features Walton vs. Port Jervis
In Game 2 at 7:45 p.m., S.S. Seward meets Sullivan West.
The consolation and championship games will be played on Friday, Dec. 7. The losing teams in the opening round will meet at 6 p.m. in the consolation game. At 7:45 p.m., the winning teams from the opening round will play in the championship game.
Trophies will be presented to the first, second, and third place teams. Trophies will also be awarded to a Most Valuable Player (MVP) and five first team all- stars. All-stars will be selected by the coaches at the conclusion of the consolation and championship games.
The girls’ tournament includes teams from The Family School, S.S. Seward, Port Jervis and Sullivan West. The first round will be held on Monday, Dec. 3.
In Game 1, which tips off at 6 p.m., S.S. Seward will face Port Jervis.
In Game 2, which is set to start at 7:45 p.m., The Family School meets Sullivan West.
The consolation and championship games will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 4. In the 6 p.m. consolation game, the losing teams from the first round will face each other. The two winning teams from the opening round will play each other in the championship game, which is slated for 7:45 p.m.

Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students.
