Liberty Boys and Girls Club to hold Liberty Grand Opening

Contributed Story
LIBERTY — April 6, 2010 — The Boys and Girls Club of Sullivan County joins Liberty Central School District in celebrating the opening of the newest Boys and Girls Club location at the Liberty Middle School. The ribbon cutting, ceremony and celebration will take place on Friday, April 9 at 4 p.m. The public is welcome, and invited to attend.
The Liberty Boys and Girls Club officially opened in February and currently serves 45 fifth and sixth-grade students. Liberty is the third school to host a club in the county; other sites are located at Monticello and Fallsburg schools.
The club is considered a school-based program, and is located in the middle school cafeteria. Students have access to the computer lab and gymnasium and a room adjacent to the cafeteria has been remodeled to serve as a recreation room. Furnishings were generously donated by the Charlie Barbuti Furniture Mall in Liberty.
“We are thrilled to have been able to bring the Boys and Girls Club to Liberty,” said Alexis Eggleton, Executive Director of Boys and Girls Club of Sullivan County. “The Club offers them age-appropriate activities, ‘Power Hour’ homework sessions and the opportunity to participate in our five core areas of programming which include character and leadership development, health and life skills, the arts (fine, performing, crafts), education and career development, and sports and fitness.”
The ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration will take place at Liberty Middle School.
