Arthur W. Bryant
Funeral Director, Founder of Bryant Funeral Home, 93

Arthur W. Bryant of Setauket passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at age 93 in Palm Springs, CA, coincidentally on the 39th Anniversary of the opening of Bryant Funeral Home.
He was born in Port Jefferson, NY, on October 13, 1919, the son of the late Edwin and Mildred Smith Bryant.
Art, with his wife Martha and their three sons, enjoyed coming upstate to their camps in both North Branch and Shinhopple, NY, for over 55 years, where they experienced many happy times, especially during deer season. Art and Mart became frequent visitors to Livingston Manor and enjoyed staying with their son Herb and his family.
Mr. Bryant was an avid deer hunter, and hunted in the Catskills, Wyoming, Colorado, New Brunswick and Maine.
He was proud to have served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mr. Bryant was a lifelong member of the Port Jefferson United Methodist Church, a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Harbor Post #417, a 75 Year member of the Setauket Fire Department, and Grand Marshal in the 100th Anniversary Parade in 2009.
He is survived by his three sons, Arthur Bryant Jr. and his wife Barbara of Hartwick, NY, Herbert Bryant and his wife Kathy of Downsville and Fred Bryant and his wife Debbie of Setauket; his grandchildren: Christine Chavez, Elizabeth Bryant, Sarah Werner, Melissa Krivit, Herb Bryant Jr., Fred Bryant, Jr., Bonnie O’Connor and Adam Bryant. He was also the proud grandfather of three great granddaughters.
He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Martha Curtis Bryant, and his three brothers, Melville, Harry and Robert.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12733 from 5-8:00 p.m.
Interment will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 at St. James Episcopal Churchyard Cemetery.
Donations in Arthur’s name can be made to Robert Karl Memorial Scholarship Fund, Downsville Central School, C/O Sandy Shaver, PO Box J, Downsville, NY 13755.
Arrangements were under the direction of Herbert Bryant; 845-439-4333.
