Lura Meckle
Retired Assembler for Kolmar Labs, 86

Lura Meckle of Damascus, PA, a retired Assembler for Kolmar Labs in Port Jervis, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center, Lake Ariel, PA. She was 86.
The daughter of the late Roy and Sarah Chamberlain Minckler, she was born July 29, 1927 in Stalker, PA. Lura was the widow of the late Edward D. Meckle.
A family statement reads: “Lura loved holiday traditions and family dinners, she enjoyed the simple country life watching wildlife and tending to her flower beds. She was an avid genealogist and spent countless hours on the computer and telephone researching her family history.”
Lura is survived by her son, Donald Meckle and his wife Kathy of Callicoon; two grandchildren, Kara McElroy and her husband Justin of Hortonville, NY, and Loren Meckle and his wife Tara of Wilmington, DE; three great-grandchildren, James McElroy, Ryann McElroy, and Dylan Meckle; a brother-in-law, Darrell Meckle and his wife Eleanor of Purcelville, VA; and a sister-in-law, Ilene Meckle of Narrowsburg, NY.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 34 Upper Main Street, Callicoon, NY.
Burial will take place in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Galillee, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Damascus Township Volunteer Ambulance Squad, PO Box 63, Damascus, PA 18415.
