Charlotte M. Kautz, 75
October 23, 1937 - August 31, 2013

Charlotte Kautz, age 75, passed peacefully August 31, 2013 of cancer. She was born October 23, 1937 in Callicoon, New York but had been a snowbird since 1995 at Saddlebag Lake Resort in Lake Wales, Florida.
Charlotte was raised in Callicoon Center by her parents William and Pearl Veyhl. After a brief period of time living in New York City, she met and married Raymond. They resided in Sullivan County in an area known as the “Beechwoods.” Charlotte was very involved with helping Ray to maintain the family dairy farm while raising their four children. She was part of the Hortonville Beechwoods Home Extension (HB); volunteer at Delaware Valley Central School, which included the picture committee; playing organ at the Callicoon Hospital; volunteer ambulance for Delaware Valley; Hortonville Co-Op and many, many more activities. She was never a person to say no when someone needed help. Charlotte and Ray also became involved with square dancing and enjoyed many a dance together.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Kautz. She is survived by her daughters, Cherie Stamey of Lynchburg, Virginia, Lynn Daniels (Mark), and Kristy Lairson (Jason) both of Lake Wales, Florida; son Bill Kautz of Sarasota, Florida and her grandchildren, Sam Daniels, Kelli Wiggins (Eddie), Carl Stamey, Kacey Stamey, Katie Lopez and Ryan Lairson.
A family statement reads, “She was our rock. She could drive us crazy with her many opinions on things but she also taught us so much more. And of course, she always made us laugh with her great sense of humor. We love you, Mema. Give Pop-Pop a big hug from all of us.”
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. at 5875 Skokie Rd Lake Wales, Florida 33898. A Celebration of Life is tentatively scheduled in New York at the end of October 2013.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Ameson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823 or Moffitt Cancer Center Tampa, FL.
Arrangements are by Steele’s Family Funeral Services, Winter Haven, FL.
