Alene Ann Ritz, 56
May 8, 1956 - April 3, 2013

Alene Ann Ritz of Lake Huntington, NY, passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 with her loving husband, Thomas Ritz, by her side. She was 56.
Alene was born in Nyack, NY, on May 8, 1956, the daughter of Robert F. and Virginia Brooks. She was a 1974 graduate of North Rockland High School. Alene is survived by her husband, Thomas; her mother, Virginia Brooks of Jeffersonville; two sons, Chris and daughter-in-law Sue Rodriguez of Narrowsburg, and Jimmy Rodriguez of Lake Huntington; two grandchildren, Trista Lynn and Jason Robert Rodriguez; two brothers, Robert Brooks of Lansing, Michigan, and Clifford and wife Kathleen Brooks of Thiells, NY; three nieces, Elizabeth, Jennifer, and Sarah. Alene was heartbroken by the passing of her father on November 2, 2003.
In 1994 Alene finally found her soulmate and married him in 1996. Thomas Ritz promised to be with her in sickness and in health, and that he was. Catering to her needs and loving her like no other. Tom was unselfishly by her side when she fell ill and showed care and compassion that many would envy. He earned his wings. He was her angel on earth. In 18 years together they never had a fight, always taking the time to think about what was going to be said, realizing that it could not be undone.
Alene had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody, well, almost anybody. I'm sure she's smiling.
Alene cherished the arrival of her grandchildren, buying so many little girl clothes for Trista that her parents didn't have to. Trista Lynn was the little girl she always wanted and it showed immensely. Trista was born just four days before Alene's father passed. She mourned the loss of her father, friend, and daddy. There were not many days that she didn't think about him. Alene had a special bond with her mother and enjoyed swapping books, shopping, and just spending time talking with her. Alene loved her mom's resourcefulness.
In December 2006, her grandson Jason arrived. It was a flashback of some 25-30 years earlier when her two boys were little. It was now time for her to buy toys, trucks, tools and everything else a grandson could want.
What came at no cost for her, and touched so many of her friends and family, was her gentle smile, generosity and words that would touch our hearts forever.
When you lose someone you love, you gain an angel you know.
We love you Alene, A, Grammie A, Mom.
The Family will hold a memorial at a later date. Memorial contributions in loving memory of Alene Ritz can be made to the Cochecton Youth Commission, P.O. Box 164, Lake Huntington, NY 12752 or Town of Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 4, Lake Huntington, NY 12752.
Arrangements are by Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY 12748.
