John Veleber
Retired from Pilgrim Bank, 80

John Veleber of Roscoe, NY, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013. He was 80.
Born and raised in Maryd, PA, he resided in Ridgewood, NJ and Weeke Watchi, FL before moving to Roscoe ten years ago. A proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Farleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. Mr. Veleber was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ridgewood, NJ. An avid reader, John enjoyed hunting, fishing, crossword puzzles, gardening and happy hour-Manhattans.
Prior to retiring in 1993 from Pilgrim Bank in Cedar Grove, NJ, his successful career in the banking industry spanned forty years.
Beloved husband of Hilda S. (Emker) Veleber. Loving and devoted father of Sue Baumgartner and husband Bob, Kathy Harper, John Veleber and the late Debra Gilligan. Cherished grandfather of R.J., Lance, Matthew and Kymberly. Dear brother of Sue, Anne and Mary. He is also survived by his loyal canine companions, Jake, Molson and Phoebe.
A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, January 30, 2013, 7:30 PM at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500.
The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Cremation will be private.
