Althea ‘Allie’ Bowers
Retired Victory Market Employee, 89

Althea “Allie” Viele Bowers of Roscoe, NY, a retired employee of the Victory Market and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Roscoe Regional Rehab and Residential Care Facility in Roscoe. She was 89.
The daughter of the late John O. and Magdelena Davis Viele, she was born in Turnwood, NY.
Allie was a member of the United Church of Roscoe and the ladies auxiliary of the church. She was a member of the NRA and an avid NY Mets fan. She loved her church, and enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Verderber and her husband, Joseph, of Roscoe, and Peggy Geyer and her husband, Warren, of Grahamsville, NY; one son, John “Jack” Bowers and his wife, Karen, of Roscoe; five grandchildren, Maggie Bowers, Timothy Bowers, Susanne Bowers, Joseph Verderber and Michael Verderber; two great-grandchildren, John Michael Bowers and Kimberly Althea Verderber; many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a dear friend, Joyce Stanford; and all of those who called her “Aunt Allie.” She was predeceased by her husband, Leamon Bowers on Feb. 15, 2006; by two sister, Mary Viele and Margaret Woodard; and two brothers, Otis Viele and Edward Viele.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Friday evening, Sept. 14, 2012 at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Avenue, Roscoe.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 in the United Church of Roscoe, Church Street, Roscoe. The Rev. David Collins will officiate.
Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Roscoe & Rockland Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 321, Roscoe, NY 12776 or to the United Church of Roscoe, P.O. Box 233, Roscoe, NY 12776.
