Antonia M. Keesler, 52
September 29, 1959 - September 6, 2012

Antonia M. Keesler of Lake Huntington, NY, a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at home. She was 52 years of age.
The daughter of Thomas Lodini and Geraldine Young, she was born in Ramapo, NY, on September 29, 1959.
She was married for 28 years to Walter E. Keesler who survives. Toni had worked as a Teachers Assistant for BOCES.
She was a member of Holy Cross Parish, Callicoon, NY. She was a member of the Womans Club of Cochecton, Lake Huntington Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, the Red Hatters and was a past Union President of CSEA.
A family statement reads: “Toni was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a caring and loving person. She gave so much to everyone. She was a big part of the family and will be greatly missed.”
Survivors include her husband, Walter; her daughters: April Keesler and her fiance, Brian Novello, and their daughter, Brianna Novello, all of Liberty, NY, Katlyn Keesler and her boyfriend, Joseph Grzenda, of Lake Huntington; her son Hunter Keesler of Lake Huntington; her parents: Thomas Lodini of Suffern, NY, and Geraldine Young and her husband Franklin of Huntington, TX; eight siblings: Thomas Lodini, Mary Stripling, John Lodini, Charles Young, Donald Young, Frank Young, David Young and Raymond Young; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main Street, Narrowsburg, NY 12764
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Callicoon, NY. The Rev. Ignatius E. Smith, O.F.M., will officiate.
Cremation will follow at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.
Arrangements are by Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main Street, Narrowsburg, NY.

Lucis L. McAdams
Retired Equipment Operator, 84

Lucis L. McAdams of Fremont Center, NY, a retired equipment operator for the Town of Fremont and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. He was 84.
The son of the late Charles and Leila Marble McAdams, he was born June 13, 1928 in Acidalia, NY.
Lucis served our country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Hankins-Fremont Fire Department, and the Elk Brook Hunting Club. He had been a dairy farmer and loved animals. He was an outdoorsman and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include one brother, Grant McAdams of Acidalia, NY; one sister, Velma Straight of El Paso, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Elda Brown, and by several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 9-10 a.m. in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, September 11, 2012 in the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Fremont Center Cemetery, Fremont Center.

Eleanor Mae Benjamin Cohen, “Ellie”
June 15, 1938-September 6, 2012

Eleanor Mae Benjamin Cohen, “Ellie,” of Woodridge, NY, died on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York. She was 84.
Born on June 15, 1938, Ellie was the only child of Lillian and George Benjamin of Woodridge. Ellie was married to Martin Cohen, of Brooklyn, NY, on August 24, 1958 and was a proud career woman, mother and grandmother.
She was a graduate of Hunter College and went on for her Master’s in Social Work at New York University, where she proudly completed the degree and graduated side by side with her daughter. Ellie was the co-founder of Merrell Benco Insurance Agency, and the president of the Benco Finance Company. She touched the lives of many through both her work as a social worker and her volunteerism throughout Sullivan County. She was an active member of the community serving as President of Hadassah, a member of the Fallsburg Board of Education and B’nai B’rith. She was honored for spearheading fundraising efforts, most notably, Las Vegas nights, and was fondly referred to as “The General” for her outstanding leadership. Ellie was a loyal and generous friend and a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.
Ellie is survived by her husband of 54 years, Martin Cohen; her daughter and son-in-law, Meri and Marc Lederer of New Paltz, NY, her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Christopher Rigling of Middletown, Connecticut; and five grandchildren: Loren, 26, Julia, 23, Sarah, 27, Gerard, 24, and Lillian, 20.
Ellie will always be remembered for her joyful spirit, her sense of adventure and her genuine compassion for others.
The Cohen family respectfully requests that donations be made in her memory to the Hebrew Day School of Sullivan County in Kiamesha, NY.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the Congregation Ohave Sholem Synagogue in Woodridge.
Burial was in Workman’s Circle #281 Cemetery in Glen Wild.

Augustus Joseph Adams
Retired Locksmith, 93

Augustus Joseph Adams of Callicoon Center, NY, a retired locksmith at Northport Veterans Administration Hospital, died Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty, NY. He was 93.
The son of James and Anna George Adams, he was born November 28, 1918 in Richmond Hills, NY. He was married to the late Grace A. Saladino Adams who died December 20, 2002.
Augustus proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
He is survived by one son, James Adams and his wife, Wendy, of Callicoon Center, NY; two grandchildren, Lenny Adams and his wife, Christine, and Melissa Rackowicz and her husband, Daniel, all of Jeffersonville, NY; one brother, Charles Adams of East Northport, NY; two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Jared Rackowicz; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Grace; his son, August; and by six brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ronald R. Martinek, 54
October 27, 1957 - September 9, 2012

Ronald Robert Martinek (Ron) of Monticello, NY, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 54.
Ron was born October 27, 1957 in Monticello to Ella (Albrecht) Martinek and the late George Martinek.
Ron graduated Monticello High School Class of 1976. He was a member of Monticello Elks 1544, Cliff Lodge Hunting Club and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He worked for 33 years at a local oil company, starting as an oil burner technician, and ending his career as General Manager. An avid self-proclaimed mechanic, Ron felt most at home in his garage helping friends and family, fixing anything from a lawn mower to a truck. He was a true “jack of all trades.” A lifelong outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting and four-wheeling. Friends will always remember him as a die-hard NASCAR fan, with an unyielding loyalty to car #29 (Harvick).
Ron is survived by his mother, Ella; his loving children: Albert and his wife, Mary, Amber, T.J., George, and Rebecca; his grandchildren: Gavin, Bailey, Audrey, Logan, and Ada; brothers Carl and George; a sister, Donna Mulvey and her husband, Mickey; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends, as well as his faithful four-legged companion, Tito.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 12 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello.

Benjamin H. Murray
Retired from New York Housing Authority, 84

Benjamin H. Murray of Monticello, New York, passed away at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home on Friday, September 7, 2012. He was 84.
He was born on March 12, 1928, to Henry and Mary Murray, in Brooklyn, New York.
Benjamin served in the U.S. Army, and retired from the New York Housing Authority after 32 years of service.
He is survived by his two daughters, Arlene Gordon and her husband, Cliff, of Monticello, and Sandra Rason of St. Louis, Missouri; his three sons, Benjamin Murray of Conyers, Georgia, Michael Murray of Brooklyn, and Elliot Murray and his wife, Sylvia, of Middletown, NY; eleven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by the love of his life, his wife of many years, Amy Murray, who passed away in 2001.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2012 at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701, to be followed immediately by burial with military honors at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty, NY.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
