Thurston R. Maus
Former Highway Superintendent, 67

Thurston Roger Maus of Lew Beach, NY, a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012. He was 67.
The son of Laverna Whitbeck Maus and the late Donald Maus, he was born December 10, 1944 in Franklin, NY.
Thurston was a former Town of Hardenburgh Highway Superintendent and was a “Jack of All Trades”.
Survivors include his mother, Laverna Maus of Roscoe, NY; one brother, Alton Maus of Roscoe; one sister, Marilyn Shoman of Wappingers Falls, NY; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Donald Maus; and one sister, Barbara Jean Maus.
Graveside services and burial will be Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY. The Rev. Dale Ashby will officiate.
Memorial contributions in Thurston’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Willard ‘Bud’ Slausenberg, 93
November 2, 1918 – September 30, 2012

Willard “Bud” Slausenberg, age 93, died on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Reading Hospital in Reading, PA.
At his request, no service will be held.
Bud was born on November 2, 1918 in Port Jervis, NY. He went to college at Ithaca School of Music in Ithaca, NY, and graduated in 1942.
He and his wife, Mildred, moved to Callicoon, NY, in 1945 where they raised two daughters, Cheryl and Kathryn. He was a longtime music teacher at the Delaware Valley Central School in Callicoon, NY, and retired in 1974.
He will be remembered most for the musical productions he staged at the school and for his desire to ensure that any student who wanted to participate was included and given a chance to perform.
His loving wife of 74 years, Mildred, his two daughters, Cheryl and Kathryn, and his son-in-law, Peter, survive him. His family and those who knew him will profoundly miss him.
