William E. “Sonny” Dennis
Dairy farmer, 73

William E. “Sonny” Dennis, 73, of Honesdale, Damascus Township, died Friday, February 10, 2012 at home. He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, the former Ellen B. Yakaboski. They were married on March 30, 1963.
Born on January 28, 1939 in Smith Hill, he was the son of the late Asa N. Dennis and Geraldine Gilbert Dennis. After High School in Damascus, Sonny served in the United States Navy. He owned and operated the family dairy farm where he thoroughly enjoyed the crops and land. Devoted to agriculture, Sonny was fond of John Deere tractors and the rural farm lifestyle in which he and his wife raised their family. In the late 1960’s, Sonny was acknowledged as the Wayne County Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year. He will be remembered as a kind, hard working, and good hearted man, willing to help anyone in need. His family was very dear to him; he especially loved his granddaughter, Maddie.
He is also survived by three children: Timothy E. Dennis of Jeffersonville, NY and his companion, Lisa Edwards, Ted W. Dennis and his wife, Lisa of Coudersport, PA; and Julie Ludwig and her husband Bill of Bethany; a granddaughter, Maddie Ludwig; and a brother, Charles A. Dennis.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Krol.
Friends were able to visit at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 and Wednesday, prior to the time of service.
Funeral Services with Military Honors was held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 with Rev. William Rushik officiating.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Sonny’s memory to Wayne Memorial Hospice, 601 Park Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 or the Damascus Volunteer Ambulance, P.O. Box 63, Damascus, PA 18415.

Linda C. Canfield
Hortonville, NY

Linda C. Canfield of Hortonville, NY, a reservation specialist and longtime resident died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta, NY.
The daughter of the late Harry and Katharina Gunther Schilling, she was born February 8, 1949 in Valley Stream, NY. She was 63 years old.
Linda had worked for 37 years for Villa Roma Resort, Callicoon, NY. She was proud that she had received an award for employee of the year some years back. She was a graduate of Middletown Beauty School. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Narrowsburg. She was a member of Delaware Valley Women’s Bowling League, Hortonville Ladies Bowling League and a member of the WIBC. She was proud of her high average that she maintained.
A family statement reads: “Linda was a special aunt. Laughter was very important in her life. She always made the family laugh and was a lot of fun. She had such a positive attitude towards life. She would help anyone in need and had so many friends. She will greatly be missed by all that knew her.”
Survivors include her three nieces: Anne-Marie Weise and her husband Rick of Stroudsburg, PA; Jennifer Schilling and her finance Victor of Lehighton, PA; and Jeanine Schilling of Lehighton, PA; one great niece, Amanda Weise; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her brother Harry J. Schilling Jr., and her finance Ken Zieres, and her special dog, Munchken.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St. Narrowsburg, NY.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, NY. Rev. Phyllis Haynes will officiate.
Cremation will follow at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: American Cancer Society, 407 E. Main St., Middletown, NY 10940.

Linda C. Mangan
Registered nurse, 61

Linda C. Mangan, 61, a lifetime Liberty resident, passed away on Thursday February 16, 2012 at her residence. The daughter of the late George Calvert Crary and Hilda Stalker Crary, she was born on March 31, 1950 in Liberty, NY.
Linda was a Registered Nurse at the Sullivan County Department of Public Health. She was a member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church, Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Sullivan County Dive Assn and the NYS Nurses Assn.
Survivors include her son, Kyle Mangan and wife Brandie of Liberty; daughter, Melanie Bendy and husband Robert of Bucks County, PA; brother, George Crary and wife Chris of Sparrowbush; sisters, Joan Healey of Wappingers Falls, NY, Judi Sells and husband Richard of Atlanta, GA, Hazel Yaun and husband Daniel of Liberty; grandchildren, Andrew and Ryan Bendy and Colin and Brenna Mangan; a special aunt, Lucille Bishop of Delancy, NY; a special uncle, Lamont Edwards, of Westtown, NY and her ever faithful companion “Murphy”. Her sons Gary Mangan and Baby Boy Mangan predeceased her.
Memorial funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 3 PM at Liberty Presbyterian Church, 81 S. Main St., Liberty. Arthur Henry and Roberta Rehwalt will officiate.
Cremation will be at the convenience of the family at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.
