Richard J. ‘O’B’ O’Brien
Retired Conrail Foreman, 61

Richard J. “O’B” O’Brien of Cochecton, NY, a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. He was 61.
The son of late James and Marie Walsh O’Brien, he was born February 10, 1950 in Manhattan, NY.
Richard was a retired foreman for ConRail.
He was married to Randi Keesler O’Brien for 35 years, she survives.
He attended St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg, NY. He was a member of Red Fox Hunting Club and the Bee Keepers Association. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, a real outdoors man. His love and passion was gardening.
A family statement reads: “‘O’B’ was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He worked hard to provide for his family and always had put his family first. He will be greatly missed by all.”
He is survived by his wife Randi; four children: Daniel O’Brien of Cochecton, Colleen O’Brien Williams and her husband TC of Killeen, Texas, Jessica Ann O’Brien of Lawton, OK, and Shawna Smith and her husband V. Smith of Hinesville, GA; three grandchildren: Lorenzo O’Brien, Aliza O’Brien and Gabriella O’Brien; one brother, James O’Brien and his wife Isabella of Enfield, CT; one sister, Joanne Coe and her husband Thomas of New Fairfield, CT; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St., Narrowsburg.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday October 15, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Christian Burial will follow at Tyler Town Cemetery, Tyler Town, NY (Cochecton Center).
In lieu of flowers donations in Richard’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home Narrowsburg, NY, 845-252-3901.

Katharina Schilling
Former Chef and lifelong resident of area

Katharina Schilling of Honesdale, PA, formerly of Kenoza Lake, NY and Beach Lake, PA., a retired chef and lifelong resident, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Wayne Woodland Manor, Waymart, PA.
The daughter of the late Johann and Magdelena Martin Gunther, she was born in Germany. She was married for 52 years to Harry Schilling, who passed away on October 22, 1990.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Narrowsburg. She was also a member of the Tusten Seniors, Beach Lake Ladies Auxiliary, Welcome Lake Ladies Auxiliary and the Damascus United Methodist Women Group.
A family statement reads: Katharina was the most loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her grandchildren were the world to her. She loved to cook and prepare dinners for Munchken. She loved flowers and gardening. She always put people first. She was the best mother in the world – she was our sunshine and will be greatly missed.”
Survivors include her daughter: Linda Canfield of Hortonville. Her three granddaughters: Anne-Marie Weise and her husband, Rick, of Stroudsburg, PA; Jennifer Schilling and her finance, Victor, of Lehighton, PA; and Jeanine Schilling of Lehighton, PA. One great granddaughter: Amanda Weise. Several nieces, nephews and relatives in Europe.
She is predeceased by her husband Harry, her son Harry J. Schilling Jr. and her six siblings.
Friends are invited to call on Friday October 14, 2011 from 2 pm to 4 pm, 7 pm to 9 pm and Sunday, October 16, 2011 from noon to 1 pm at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St. Narrowsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 1 pm at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg. The Rev. Phyllis Haynes will officate.
Cremation will follow at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 31 Erie St., Narrowsburg, NY 12764.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, NY. 845-252-3901
