Rosalind Pavloff
Ret. Business Owner, 78

Rosalind “Rozie” Pavloff of Woodridge, NY & Delray Beach, Fla., retired owner and operator of Murry’s Dry Cleaners in South Fallsburg and a longtime resident of the Catskills, died December 19, 2008 at the Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, FL. She was 78.
Daughter of the late Max Lemberger and Ida Siegel Lemberger, Rozie was born in the Bronx on October 25, 1930. She and her family moved to Woodridge where she lived from the age of 3 years old.
She was a member of the Hadassah, Jewish Women’s International, The Woodridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Workmen’s Circle, and member of the Woodridge Kiwanis, where she served as the first-ever woman president. Rozie was a proud wife, mother, and grandmother and spent much time working on her ceramics. She will be missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Murry Pavloff, of Delray Beach, FL; two sons, Andrew Pavloff and his wife Sherri of Newburgh, NY, and Bruce Pavloff of Slingerlands, NY; her two brothers, Dr. Louis Lemberger and his wife Myrna of Indianapolis, ID, and David Lemberger of Milwaukee, WI, and her four grandchildren: Matthew Pavloff, Adam Pavloff, Rachel Robinson, and Leah Robinson.
Funeral services were held at the Woodridge Congregation Ohave Shalom Synagogue on Monday, December 22 with Rabbi I. Goodman officiating. Burial was made in the Workmen’s Circle Cemetery, Glen Wild.

Walter Miller
Retired Custodian, 70

Walter John Miller, age 70, of Jeffersonville, NY, passed away peacefully with family and loved ones by his side on Friday, December 19, 2008.
The son of the late Walter George and Helen Seroska Miller, he was born July 2, 1938 in Mt. Kisco, NY.
Mr. Miller served with the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1957. He was an 0311-Rifleman in “C” Company, First Battalion, Eighth Marines, Second Marine Division, F.M.F. in Camp LeJeune, NC.
He worked for the Town of Callicoon and for Victory Markets, and the Jeffersonville-Youngsville School District as a custodian. He then worked as the sole custodian for the Youngsville School until his retirement in 1985.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ethel Oestrich Miller, at home, and his prized dachshund, Heidi. His three children include Michele Miller Lupardo and her husband Anthony of Youngsville, Bryan Miller and his wife Kathryn of North Branch, and Kristina Miller Davison, RN, of White Sulphur Springs, NY. His beloved grandchildren include: Kevin and Anthony Lupardo of Youngsville, and Alexis and Makenzie Miller of White Sulphur Springs. He is also survived by his sister, Delores Shea and nieces and nephews from Pittston, PA. He was predeceased by his sister, Anna Chersonkas, and his aunt & uncle, Petronella and Herman Drechsel, by whom he was raised.
A family statement reads, “He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed and will be held in our hearts forever and will never be forgotten.”
As per his wishes, there will be no services.
Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Jeffersonville Vol. First Aid Squad, the Jeffersonville Fire Dept., or to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550.

Betty D. Starr
Ret. Luncheonette Mgr., 81

Betty D. Starr of Lake Huntington, NY, a retired luncheonette manager and longtime area resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY, with her family by her side. She was 81.
The daughter of the late Harry Edwin and Mae Margaret Sager Starr, she was born August 31, 1927 in Girardville, PA.
Betty had been the luncheonette manager at the Chester Arms Pharmacy in Chester, Pa.
Survivors include one son, Brian Starr of Lake Huntington, NY; two daughters, Cheryl Becker of Narrowsburg, NY, and Barbara Cartwright of Harrisburg, PA; one sister, Jean Fasano of Aston, PA; one grandson, Paul Becker and his wife, Connie of Brightwaters, NY; three granddaughters, Emily Lanese and her husband Matthew of San Diego, CA, Jennifer Zechman and her husband, Scott of Elizabethtown, PA, and Melissa Keckler of the state of Florida; one sister-in-law, Lois Starr of Aston, PA; five great-grandchildren: Casey and Samantha Becker, Justin Zechman, and Bailey and Kayla Keckler; several nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by two sisters, Stella Starr and Doris Starr, and by two brothers, Harry Edwin Starr II and Kenneth Starr.
Betty’s family would like to extend their special thanks for outstanding care at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home and to the doctors and nurses of the critical care unit at the Catskill Regional Medical Center for their efforts and compassion.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Cochecton Vol. Ambulance Corps, 6671 Route 55, Lake Huntington, NY 12752.
