Helen Stephenson
Homemaker, 88

Helen Stephenson, 88, of Hortonville, NY, a homemaker and lifetime resident of the area, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Sullivan County Adult Care Center, Liberty, NY.
Daughter of the late Christian and Henrietta Rennemann Ferber, she was born August 11, 1920 in Callicoon, NY. She was the widow of F. Allen Stephenson.
She was a member of the Hortonvilleresbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Buddenhagen and her husband David of Hortonville and Marilyn Stevens and her husband Neil of Homer, NY; grandchildren: Cathy Wilcox and her husband, Brian; Cindy Menges and her husband, Keith; Gail Stevens-Shourds and her husband, Glenn; Peter Stevens and his wife, Diana McFarland; Troy Stevens and his wife, Tina; great-grandchildren: Niesha and Robert Wilcox, Kendall Menges, Maggie Stevens-Shourds, Brandon Stevens, Nicholas and Sarah Stevens; one brother, Arthur Ferber and his wife, Betty; three stepchildren: Jesse Stephenson, Jane Reside and her husband Jerome, and Joyce Graham; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Thursday, December 4 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Callicoon, NY.
Services will be Friday, December 5, at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Nancy Asbury officiating.
Burial will be in Hortonville Cemetery, Hortonville, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hortonville Presbyterian Church, PO Box 15, Hortonville, NY 12745 or to the charity of one’s choice.

George H. Young
Ret. Truck Driver, 69

George H. Young of North Branch passed away Monday, December 1, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 69.
George was born at home in the Town of Fremont. He was a retired truck driver for the Town of Callicoon where he had worked for 11 years. He also worked for the former Agway in Callicoon for 19 years and the Villa Roma Resort for the last 4 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a former member of the North Branch Fire Dept.
In a family statement it was said: “He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed.”
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Arlene Brockner Young; his daughter, Deborah Barrett and her husband, Frank; his son, Robert Young; his two grandchildren, Heather and Kyle Barrett; his sisters, Lorraine Snyder and her husband, Thomas; Marjory Erlwein and her husband, Joseph; Virginia Lane and her husband, William; his brother, Arthur Young; and many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Louise Durasky.
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, December 6 at 11 a.m. at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, North Branch, NY. Pastor Kit Robison will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to North Branch Fire Dept, North Branch, NY 12766 or the charity of ones choice.

Agnes Bernhardt
Homemaker, 88

Agnes Bernhardt, a homemaker of Jeffersonville, NY, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Wayne Woodland Manor in Waymart, Pa. She was 88.
The daughter of Patrick and Mary Lynch McDermott, she was born November 25, 1920 in Mud Butte, South Dakota. She was married to the late John Bernhardt.
She is survived by two brothers, George McDermott of Callicoon Center, NY, and Thomas McDermott of O’Neil, Neb.; fifteen nieces and nephews; and several grandnieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John, and by her son, Edward John Bernhardt.
Friends may call Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 6 at 11 a.m. at St. George’s Church, Jeffersonville. Father Ignatius Vu will officiate.
Burial will be made in Calvary Cemetery in Youngsville, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Benjamin Miller Horton
Ret. Highway Dept. Emp., 68

Benjamin Miller Horton, of Wurtsboro died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris surrounded by his family and friends. He was 68.
The son of the late Benjamin Wilbur Horton and Eleanor Orvilla Miller Horton, he was born June 4, 1940 in Middletown.
Ben was raised on the family dairy farm in Highview, graduated from Middletown High School in 1958. He attended Delhi College for a short time but returned home to work on the family dairy farm until the late 1970’s. He worked for the Town of Mamakating Highway Dept for 18 years until his retirement. During his retirement he spent his time with his family and friends.
Ben was an avid hunter, member of the Dairyman’s League Assoc., the FFA and the Community Church of Bloomingburg. He was also a landowner for the Mamakating Conservation Club and a past Captain and honorary member of the Bloomingburg Fire Dept. Ben was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Patricia Ann Lindsay Horton, at home; two sons: Benjamin D. Horton & his wife Shannon of Roanoke, VA and James Lindsay Horton & his wife Julie of Ringgold, GA; three daughters: Diana Duffy & her husband Steve of Hortonville, Denise Brouillard and her friend Robert Murphy of Walker Valley and Nancy Hufcut and her husband Michael of Circleville; 15 grandchildren: Kyle, Kelle, Jacob, Joshua, Devon, Michael, Connor, Dylan, James Robert, Ryanne, Alex, Morgan, Faith Anne, Liam, & Blake Miller; a sister: Barbara Barber of Bloomingburg; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5 from 3-7 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc., Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral service will be held on Friday evening at 7:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Hewitt officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.

Celeste Alberti Warren

Celeste Ann (Alberti) Warren of Keller, Texas, passed away with her loving husband and mother by her side on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. She was 37 years young.
Celeste was born in Liberty, New York, to Cliff Alberti and Patt Bowdren Malkasian.
She married Troy Warren on October 12, 1996 and they have two beautiful girls, Mackenzie, 9, and Kaylin, 7.
She will always be the wonderful daughter, sister, loving wife, best mom, loved by all that knew her and will be sadly missed by so, so many family and friends.
In addition to her loving husband, daughters, mom and dad, she also leaves behind her two BFF sisters, Victoria and Jennifer; favorite little brother JJ; nephew Andrew; step-dad Jim Malkasian; her husband’s family, Bob and Theresa Warren of Fayetteville, Georgia; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins of the Bowdren, Warren, and Alberti families; and grandparents Jean Auerbach, Ray Alberti, Geraldine Bowdren, and especially Kenneth Bowdren (deceased).
A “Celebration of Celeste’s Life” will take place at Fellowship of the Parks – Keller, Texas on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, friends can make a donation in Celeste’s memory to the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, P. O.
