Honorable Robert C. Williams
Retired New York State Supreme Court Justice, 85

Retired New York State Supreme Court Justice Robert C. Williams of Monticello, NY, died on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. He was 85.
The son of the late Harry D. and Violet Scott Williams, he was born June 19, 1928 in Bethel, NY. He was the husband of Dorothy Bertsch Williams.
He was a graduate of the Jeffersonville-Youngsville Central School, Bates College, Brooklyn Law School and the National Judiciary College. Justice Williams served as Assistant Sullivan County District Attorney, and was Sullivan County District Attorney from 1962 to 1968. He was the first Sullivan County Family Court Judge from 1969 to 1973, and Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Third Judicial District, from 1974 to 1995. He was the recipient of the 1984 Felix J. Aulisi award given by the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, “for his consistent and diligent dedication to administration of justice.” He was the 1996 recipient of the Sullivan County History Maker Award for his lifetime contributions to the county, and the 1997 recipient of the Americanism Award of the Anti-Defamation League. He was a member of the Monticello Elks Club and the Monticello Kiwanis Club. He served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Bertsch Williams; his sister-in-law, Katherine Bossert; his nieces and nephews, Diane Bare, David Williams, and Linda Stroud.
There are no calling hours.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 23, 2013 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 5068 Route 52, Jeffersonville, NY.
Interment was made at East Cochecton Cemetery, Cochecton, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, 482-4280.

Willi H. Ernst
October 14, 1928 - December 19, 2013

Willi H. Ernst, the owner of Ernst Pastry in Glendale, Queens and a 30-year resident of Cochecton, NY, died December 19, 2013 at home. He was 85.
The son of Johannes and Elizabeth Schenkemeyer Ernst, he was born October 14, 1928 in Hildesheim, Germany. He was married to the late Lisa Rappe Ernst.
Before his retirement, Willi also worked as a pastry chef at the Eldred Preserve.
He is survived by one son, Michael Ernst and his wife Kathy of Union, NJ; two granddaughters, April Ernst and Monica Bevacqua, and one great-granddaughter, Aria J. Bevacqua.
There are no services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY, 482-4280.
