Vivian J. (Schultheiss) Backlund

Vivian J. (Schultheiss) Backlund of Binghamton, NY, 92, went to be home with the Lord and reunited with her husband Axel on Saturday, October 19, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Vivian was also predeceased by her parents, Fred and Justine Schultheiss.
She is survived by her son, Fred A. and Elena Backlund of Vestal; daughter, Wendy and Robert Zimbelman of Hudson, OH; grandchildren, Gregory and Anne Zimbelman, Christopher (Christina Curvin) Zimbelman, Erik Backlund, Andrew (Lauren McArthur) Zimbelman, Peter (Alison Nortman) Zimbelman, Lori Backlund; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Jeffrey and Nora Justine; also numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends.
She graduated from Geneseo College and taught on Long Island before she married and started her family. After her husband started his own business, Woodworking Associates, she joined him there, giving him office support until retirement. She was also a very active member of the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church. Vivian loved spending time with her family and husband at their special place on the Upper Delaware River in Stalker, Pa. She loved the outdoors, animals and nature. Vivian was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother “G-G” and friend. She will be dearly missed by many.
Friends may call at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY 13901 from 4 to 7 p.m.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church, 918 Upper Front St., Binghamton, NY 13905 on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Peggi Eller officiating.
Burial will be in the Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
Those wishing, kindly consider memorial contributions in Vivian’s name to either the Nimmonsburg UMC or the Broome County Dog Shelter, 100 Cutler Pond Rd., Binghamton, NY 13905.
Arrangements are by Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, Port Dickinson, NY.

Memorial service for Charlotte M. Kautz

A Celebration of Life Memorial for Charlotte M. Kautz, who passed away August 31, 2013, will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 31 Erie Avenue, Narrowsburg, NY.
