Richard H. Mall
Technician, 67

Richard H. “Dick” Mall of Jeffersonville, a civil engineering technician, died Monday, June 23, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical in Callicoon. He was 67.
The son of Edward Valentine Mall and Lillian Lare Mall, he was born on October 12, 1940 in Callicoon.
Dick was employed as a civil engineering technician for the Soil and Water Conservation Service of the USDA as well as the New York City Watershed. He was a 49 year member and past Chief of the Jeffersonville Fire Department, a member of the Buck Ridge Hunting Club, the Happy Footers Square Dance Club and the Briscoe Community Association. He was a US Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Bermel Mall at home; one brother, Thomas Mall and his wife, Georgeanne of Jeffersonville; one niece, Judy Mall of Liberty; two nephews, Edward Mall and his wife, Tina, David Yanetta and his wife, Jill all of Jeffersonville; one great nephew, Hunter Mall; one great niece, Marissa Marie Yanetta; and many cousins.
Services were Thursday, June 26 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville. Pastor Bridgette LeConey officiated.
Firematic services were held Wednesday, June 25 at the funeral home.
Burial was made in the Jeffersonville Methodist Cemetery, Jeffersonville.

Donald R. Hill Jr.
Machinist, 69

Donald R. Hill Jr. of North Branch, a machinist at Cosmo Optics in Middletown, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at home. He was 69.
The son of Donald Hill, Sr. and Helen Hunsinger Hill, he was born on May 9, 1939 in Elmira.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing tennis and fishing. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960.
Survivors include his loving wife, Violet Kautz Hill at home; two daughters, Cheryl Lachowitz and her husband, Scott of Concord, N.C., Cathy Eschenberg and her husband, William of Callicoon; one son, Donald Hill III of North Branch; three sisters, Joan Pound and her husband, Joe of Lindey, Patricia Denton Dalley of Calif., Marsha Gurney and her husband, William of Las Vegas; his step mother, Margaret Hill of Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Donald Hill Sr.; his mother, Helen Levenduski; his step father, Joe Levenduski; two brothers, Douglas Hill and Ronald Laverne; and by his brother-in-law, Fred Dalley.
Friends may call Friday, June 27 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
Services will be on June 27 at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Pastor Kit Robison will officiate.
Burial will be in Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

William M. Sharpless
Ret. attorney, 81

William M. Sharpless of Beaverkill, N.Y. and Tequesta, Fl., a retired attorney with the firm Nixon, Hargrave, Devans and Doyle of New York, died September 19, 2007 at North Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, N.Y. He was 81.
The son of the late William H. and Alice Perkins Sharpless, he was born July 30, 1926 in East Orange, N.J.
William is a past president of the United Methodist Church, Beaverkill, N.Y.
Survivors include his wife, Frances L. Anderson Sharpless, at home; two sons, William A. Sharpless of Beaverkill, and John F. Sharpless and his wife Jennifer of Tampa, Fl.; one daughter, Sara E. Sharpless and her husband Ersan Abitagadglu of Red Hook; one brother, Edward A. Sharpless and his wife Martha of Greensboro, N.C.; six sisters, Patricia Case of Ithaca, Delinda Bonin and her husband Carl of Beaverkill, Sara Shea and her husband Richard of Beaverkill, Janet K. Sharpless of Livingston, Montana, Constance Lynn of Springfield, Ill., and Alice N. Gordon of Phoenix, Az; as well as several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Sat., June 28 at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church, Beaverkill, N.Y. The Rev. Linda Owens will officiate.
Burial will be in the Beaverkill Cemetery, Beaverkill, N.Y.
