Alvin S. Minckler
Ret. construction worker, 75

Alvin S. Minckler of Greenville, Pa., formerly of Callicoon and a heavy duty Construction Worker for Union Local #17 in Newburgh for over 50 years, died June 20, 2008 at Woodland Place Care Center in Mercer, Pa. He was 75.
The son of the late Sam and Erma Williams Minckler, he was born on July 27, 1932 in Stalker, Pa.
He was a member of the Christian Assembly Church in Green- ville, Pa. He also was a past member of the Hankins Assembly of God Church in Hankins, a member of Union Local #17 in Newburgh where he retired in 1992. He served in the US Army from 1945 to 1952 and rose to the rank of Corporal.
A family statement reads, “He was an outdoorsman and a longtime hunter and fisherman. He loved God, his wife, family and friends. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle, compassionate man.”
Survivors include his wife, Annette “Dolly” Farina Minckler at home; three brothers, Allen Minckler of Canastota, Gerald Minckler of Long Eddy and David Minckler of Jeffersonville; his sister, Wanda Lare of Midland, N.C.; an aunt, Ellen Williams of Green- ville, Pa.; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Ralph Minckler; three sisters, Alice Johnston, Bertha Swendsen and Edith Fuller; and his brother, Alfred Minckler.
Friends may call on Friday, June 27 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon from 5 to 8 p.m.
Services will be on Saturday, June 28 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Reverend Daniel Farina and Reverend Andrew Farina, brothers-in-law of Alvin will officiate.
Burial will be made in Halsey Cemetery, Long Eddy.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Assembly Church, 111 Main St., Greenville, PA 16125.
