Joan Neiger
Ret. Bookkeeper, 76

Joan Neiger of Narrowsburg, a retired bookkeeper and secretary for Lang Industries and a longtime resident of the area died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, Pa. She was 76.
The daughter of the late James and Lillian Carmody Green, she was born July 20, 1930, in Brooklyn.
She was the widow of the late Donald Neiger, Sr. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
A family statement reads, Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a special person. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Donald Neiger and his wife, Elaine of Narrowsburg, her daughter, Michelle Cole and her husband, Michael of Beach Lake, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Kelsey and Nicholas Neiger of Narrowsburg and Tim Neiger of Virginia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Narrowsburg, with the Rev. William Scully, O.F.M. officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Narrowsburg.
Donations may be made to the Tusten Volunteer Ambulance, PO Box 34, Narrowsburg, NY 12764.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.

William “Bill” Nieke
Ret. DPW Wrkr., 90

William “Bill” Nieke of Barryville, a retired Sullivan County DPW worker and a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Sullivan County Adult Care Center, Liberty. He was 90.
The son of the late William and Barbara Knapp Nieke, he was born November 21, 1916 in New York City.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of the Eldred American Legion and the Greely VFW.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Nieke of Yulan and Richard Nieke of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Terry Burckard and her husband, Paul of Eldred; three grandchildren, Jimmy Nieke of Yulan, Kim Burckard of Eldred and Nicki Burckard of Albany.
Bill was predeceased by his wife of 57 years Margaret Clemm Nieke, who passed away on February 23, 2007 and his brother, George Nieke.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Josephine Sciarra
Ret. Clerk, 85

Josephine Sciarra of Shohola, Pa., a retired clerk for Manufacturer’s Hanover Trust, Manhattan died Friday, June 8, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. She was 85.
The daughter of the late Angelo and Lena Pezzula Vaccarella, she was born February 8, 1922 in Manhattan.
A family statement reads, Josephine was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She made a lot of new friends at Twin Cedars, she kept everyone laughing at her new home. She had such a positive attitude, s he gave inspiration to all. She will be greeted by her loving husband who she missed for so many years.
She leaves behind a daughter, Joanne Wasserman and her husband, Robert of Milanville, Pa.; and her grandson, Justin Scarimbolo and his fiance, Radhika Bapat.
She is predeceased by her husband, Matt Sciarra; her sister, Fanny and three brothers, John, Larry and Joseph.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 11 at Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.

Morris “Moishe” Gold
Family Business Wrkr., 87

Morris "Moishe" Gold, a lifetime resident of South Fallsburg, and part time resident of the Blue Horizon Diner, died Friday, June 8, at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 87.
The son of Izzie and Gertie Gold, Morris was born March 17, 1920 in South Fallsburg, where he became one of the truly legendary characters in the history of the village. Thanks to his outgoing personality and generous spirit, "Moishe" made friends in every corner of New York State, and from all walks of life. Stories of his memorable escapades will continue to bring smiles to everyone who knew him.
Morris began his working career in the family business, Fallsburg Gas Company. In the 1950's he founded Sullivan Sprinkler Company, and later became President of Sullivan Fire Protection Company in South Fallsburg. Among Morris' many community activities, he was most proud of serving as President of the Fallsburg Fire Department for over fifty years. In 2001, he was named the first President Emeritus of the Department. Morris was also a member of the Masons, the Fallsburg Lions Club, the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association, the Sidney Goldstein B'nai B'rith Lodge, an Honorary Member of the Fallsburg Police Department, and a past Board Member of the Sullivan County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He was also honored as Man of the Year by the Italian-American League of Sullivan County.
He is survived by his wife, June; brothers, Harold and Raymond Gold, and sister-in-law, Judy Gold; his children, Herbie Gold and his wife, Carolyn, Ellen Bresky and her husband, Murray, Ira Gold and his wife, Ruby, Suzie Gold and her companion, Robert Schmitz, Nicole Germann and her husband, Erik, and Jimmy Housman and his wife, Yvonne; grandchildren, Lisa Sachs, Stacey Koplik, Debbie Fein, Ian, Gillian, Adam and Ilana Gold, Tyler Germann and Brianna and Devin Housman; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Morris was predeceased by his wife, Martha.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 10, in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, Monticello. Rabbi Yakov Barros presided. Firematic Services preceded the funeral.
The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Ira and Ruby Gold at 24 Highland Drive in South Fallsburg from Sunday through Tuesday.
Contributions in Morris' memory may be made to the Fallsburg Fire Department or the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association.

John Mudaro
Human Resource Ctr., 42

John Mudaro long term resident of St. Joseph’s Center at their So. Irving Scranton home and formerly of Honesdale, Pa., died June 6, 2007. He was 42.
John was a graduate of the JJ Kohler School in Honesdale, Pa. and then worked at the Human Resource Center until suffering a stroke in 1999. He will be greatly missed by his family and especially his many wonderful friends at St. Joe’s.
Survivors include his father, Samuel Mudaro and his companion, Joan Coffey of Flushing; his sister, Frances Clemente and her husband, Jeffrey of Beach Lake, Pa. and his brother, Sam Mudaro and his wife, Eva of Las Vegas, Nev.
He was predeceased in death by his mother, Seraphina Mudaro of Honesdale, Pa.
A memorial will be set at a future date.

Vincent Wojdat
Ret. engineer, 76

Vincent Wojdat of Roscoe, a retired Senior Processing Engineer for Edo Corporation of College Point, and a longtime area resident, died Friday, June 8, 2007 in the Orange Regional Medical Center - Horton Campus, Middletown. He was 76.
The son of the late John and Emma Stammler Wojdat, he was born November 20, 1930 in Kulpmond, Pa.
Vincent was a Communicant of Gate of Heaven Church and a member of the church choir; he was a former fifteen-year-owner of the Burnt Hill Campground; a former ten-year employee of Reeves Instrument Corp; and he had been a self-employed general contractor and master electrician.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Brzytwa-Wojdat, at home; two sons, Kurt Wojdat and his wife, Donna, of Oakfield; and Rey Wojdat and his fiancée, Kathy, of Endicott; two daughters, Heidi Wojdat of Roscoe and Janine Rosener and her husband, Richard, of Oneonta; three grandchildren, Brandon Wojdat, Cole Rosener and Brooke Rosener; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Linde G. Wojdat, in 1987.
Visitation was held on Sunday, June 10, at the Harris Funeral Home in Roscoe.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, June 11, at the Gate of Heaven Church in Roscoe. Monsignor William Collins officiated.
Burial was made in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe.
