Evelyn Miller, 99

Evelyn Miller, a lifetime area resident, passed away on Tuesday April 15, 2008 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Skilled Nursing Unit. She was 99.
Born on December 26, 1908 in Parksville. She was the daughter of the late John and Katherine V. “Katie” Kearney Pierson.
Evelyn was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Monticello and the Monticello Grange. She and her late husband Andrew were longtime residents of Leonard Rd. in Monticello.
She is survived by two nieces, Linda Yamin of Loch Sheldrake and Lori Nygard of Neversink; two nephews, Robert C. Miller Jr. and Kevin Miller of Georgia; and her longtime caregiver and friend, Janet Santiago of Monticello.
She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Miller; a brother, Bernie Pierson and a sister, Regina Pierson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday April 18, 2008 at St. Peter’s Church in Monticello at 10 AM.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Monticello following the Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sullivan County SPCA, 25 Rock Hill Drive, Rock Hill, NY 12775.

Rebecca Rosenberg, 88

Rebecca “Becky” Rosenberg, a longtime Monticello resident, died on Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Catskill Regional Medical Center Harris, NY.  She was 88.
Becky was born in Spencerville, Ohio on June 19, 1919, the daughter of Isaac and Leah Liff.  She was a member of the Landfield Ave Synagogue and Temple Beth-El Synagogue and Hadassah; she volunteered for the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, and many other organizations.
She is survived by her three daughters; Ann Cole and her husband John of North Carolina, Janet Moglia and her husband Pete of Monticello and Joan Cohen and her husband Alan of Island Park, NY, her two sons; David Rosenberg of Monticello and Jay Rosenberg and his wife Leslie of Austin, Texas, her seventeen grandchildren and her one great grandchild, her brother; Ralph Liff and his wife Lenore of Bethel and her sister; Ida Needleman of the Bronx and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held today, Friday, April 18, 2008 at 2pm in Temple Beth-El Cemetery Route 17B Bethel, Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz will officiate.

Lori Schubeler
Actress & Barmaid, 41

Lori Ann Schubeler, beloved daughter of Ken and Barbara Schubeler, loving companion of Jim Heisel, dear sister of Jeffrey Schubeler, and granddaughter of Doris and the late Thomas Doyle and the late Erwin and Teresa Schubeler, and also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, died suddenly in Callicoon at age 41.
Lori loved the theatre, music, and especially loved animals. She had the courage and character to pursue her dreams despite the obstacles. Her mom, dad and brother will miss her greatly and will always love her.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, April 17 at St. Susanna Church, 616 Reading Rd., Mason.

George Didinsky
Ret. Proprietor, 85

George “Jerry” Didinsky of So. Fallsburg and Stamford, Conn., the retired co-owner and operator of Fallsburg Bottling Works, and the retired owner and operator of the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, died April 13, 2008 at his daughter’s home in Manalapan, NJ. He was 85.
Jerry was born in New York City on February 22, 1923, the son of Samuel and Sonia Levin Didinsky.
He was a longtime member of the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association, NYS Wholesale Beer Distributors Association, the NYS Ski Association, the Professional Ski Instructor Association. He was also a member and supporter of the Lions and Rotary Clubs. He served as head of the Welcoming committee and Chairman of the Dining Committee of Sterling Glen in Stamford, Conn. He also loved photography and gardening.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Adele Herskowitz of Stamford, Conn.; his three daughters, Sheri Lampert, Beth Grossman and Laurie Wasserberger and their spouses, Spencer Lampert, Robert Grossman and Gilbert Wasserberger; his grandchildren, Amanda Wasserberger, Dani Grossman, Sydney Wasserberger, Michael Grossman, Taylor Lampert and Jenna Grossman; his brother, Victor Didinsky and his wife, Harriet of South Fallsburg, and his nieces and nephews, Heather Duke-Hoover, Peter Duke, James and Bruce Hurwitz, Barry and Steven Didinsky.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Ben R. Duke and Bernard Didinsky.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 15, in the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, Inc., Monticello. Rabbi Yakov Barros officiated.
Burial was made in the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association Cemetery, Marsh Rd., Glen Wild.
Shiva will be observed starting on Wednesday, April 16, thru Friday, April 18, at sundown at Laurie and Gilbert’s home in Manalapan, NJ.
