William Rieger
Retired Poultry Farmer, 88

William Rieger, longtime resident of Cochecton, died Friday, February 15, 2008 in Virginia Beach, Va. He was 88.
The son of Wilhelm and Else Protung Rieger, he was born in New York City on January 21, 1920.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4478, Cochecton Ambulance Corps and Holy Cross Church, Callicoon.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Bestenheider Rieger at home; his children, William Rieger, Jr. of Callicoon, Susan Pointer and her husband, Richard of Pleasant Valley, Steven Rieger and his wife, Lore of Wilmington, De., Michael Rieger and his wife, Karen of Virginia Beach, Va., Mary Priebe and her husband, Richard Priebe, Jr. of Beach Lake, Pa. and his “adopted” daughter, Julie McCormick and her husband, Danny and their children, Robert and Shannon; his grandchildren, Beth Emerson, Joanna, Renee, Matt, Christina, Peter and Jacob Rieger, Rick Priebe and his wife, Christina, Rebecca, William (Bill) and Shane Priebe, Theresa and Richelle Pointer, Melanie, Jessica and William Rieger; one greatgrandchild, Crystal Ann Emerson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, February 23 at Holy Cross Church, Callicoon. Father Ignatius Smith, O.F.M. officiated.
Burial was made in Conklin Hill Cemetery, Conklin Hill, Pa.
