Preston Kortright
Ret. Sullivan Hwy. Products, 84

Preston Kortright of Woodbourne, a lifelong resident, and retired from Sullivan Highway Products, Liberty, died January 24, 2008 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 84.
The son of Earl and Bertha Muthig Kortright, he was born November 23, 1923 on the Kortright homestead in Bradley.
Preston served in the United States Army during WWII as a Technician Fifth Grade in the 466th Signal Heavy Construction Company.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Hunter Kortright of Grahamsville; a daughter, Sharon Kelly of Woodbourne; two sons, Tim Kortright and his fiancee, Barbara Stuart, of Grahamsville and Russell Kortright and his wife, Arlene, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; two brothers, Clifford and his wife, Agnes Kortright, of Parksville and Sherman Kortright and his wife, Violet, of Neversink; two grandchildren, Preston Kelly and his wife, Patti, of Grahamsville and April Kackos and her husband, Robert, of Neversink; five great-grandchildren, Christina and Bridget Kackos, Courtney, Michael and Kimberly Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He is predeceased by six brothers, Gilbert, Ivan, Earl, Albert, Roy and Milton Kortright.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 28 at Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., Ellenville.
Burial was made in the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery.

Robert Ray
Army Vet., 66

Robert (Bob) A. Ray of Hancock, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008, at home. He was 66.
He was born in French Woods on February 12, 1941, the son of Willard and Irene (Baudendistel) Ray. Bob married Dorothy Esolen September 26, 1964 in Callicoon.
He was a dedicated employee of Mallery Lumber Co. for 34 years, was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club, and an Army Veteran. Bob especially liked his Lionel Trains and the restoration of John Deere Tractors. “He gave himself with no expectation of recognition or reward. A workman who has no need to be ashamed.” 2nd Timothy 2:15
Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ray, Hancock; his daughters, Teresa and husband, Andy Kille, Hancock, Cindy and husband, Mike Argiros, Hancock, Jennifer and husband, Allen McQuiston, Fayetteville, N.C., and his son, Daniel and wife, Michelle Ray, Kannapolis, N.C.; eleven grandchildren, Nick, Patrick, Ryan Kille, Annmarie, Carmen, Anthony, John, Rachael, Michael Argiros, Ian, and Daniel McQuiston; four sisters, Edith Houghtaling, Deposit, Iva Edwards, Dandridge, Tenn., Ilene Ackerman, Deposit, and Sherri Wright, Madison, Ohio; three brothers, Willard Ray, Youngs-ville, Gary Ray, Irvine, Ky., and Kenneth (Gene) Ray, East Meredith; several aunts;  many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held today, January 29, 2008 at 1p.m. at the Emory United Methodist Church, Hancock, with Pastor Andrew Weidner officiating.
Interment will follow at French Woods Cemetery, French Woods.

Dorothy Schadt
Ret. Assistant Cashier, 85

Dorothy Schadt of Jeffersonville died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home. She was 85.
She was born May 16, 1922 in Liberty, the daughter of Charles and Louise Ellmauer Wagner.
Dorothy was a retired assistant cashier at the First National Bank of Jeffersonville and a member of St. George’s Church in Jeffersonville.
She is survived by her husband, Jack S. Schadt, at home; one son, Charlie Schadt and his wife, Sue of Jeffersonville; one daughter, Dottie Moylan and her husband, Walter of Liberty; five grandchildren, Kristi Walls, Karen Santoro, Jack Moylan, Jodi Allen, Chelsie Schadt, and Courtney Schadt; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Santoro, Noah Santoro, and Joseph Keller.
There are no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated today, January 29, at 11 a.m. at St. George’s Church in Jeffersonville, with Father Ignatius Vu officiating.

Anna V. Tierney
Homemaker, 83

Anna V. Tierney of Swan Lake, a homemaker and longtime area resident died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, Liberty. She was 83.
The daughter of the late Victor and Veronica Lojewska Mayseonok, she was born February 25, 1924 in Bayonne, N.J.
Anna was an avid reader, enjoyed the outdoors and country living. Her joy in life was her three sons. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department and the Town of Liberty Vol. Ambulance Corps for their prompt and professional services.
Survivors include her sons, Warren V. Tierney and his companion, Kathryn Herrmann, of Woodbourne; Brian J. Tierney and his fiance, Shirley Johnson, of Aurora, Colo.; and Douglas J. Tierney of Thornton, Colo.
Graveside services and burial will be Wednesday, January 30 at 11 a.m. in Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colo.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the United Way of Sullivan County, 33 Lakeview Ave., Monticello, NY 12701.
