Ida M. Conway,  86
June 3, 1923 – Dec.6, 2009

Ida Mae Conway of Rock Hill, a retired bookkeeper for Sullivan ARC, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the Orange Regional Medical Center – Horton Campus in Middletown.  She was 86.
The daughter of the late Robbin Ray Fredenburgh and Irene Stangle Fredenburgh, she was born June 3, 1923 in Woodbourne.  She was the widow of John J. Conway who predeceased her on December 3, 1982.
A graduate of Fallsburgh High School, Class of 1939 and Kingston Business School, she was a long time bookkeeper for Weiss Motor Sales in Monticello (where she met her husband), as well as for Lasky Chevrolet and Oldsmobile in Monticello.  She worked as a bookkeeper and for a time as general manager of West End Service Station, and as bookkeeper for Conway’s Service Station, both owned and operated by her husband in Monticello.  
She is survived by two sons: John Conway (Debra) of Barryville and Joseph Conway (Margaret) of Liberty; three daughters:  Dr. Mary Conway of Washington, NC, Nancy Fraser (Robert) of Ferndale and Joanne Jasper of Monticello; ten grandchildren: Chester Stanton, Jr., Amanda (Kurt) Mall, Ryan and Kyle Jasper, Ashley Fraser, Mary, Joseph, and Theresa Conway, Sarah Balmer and Rebecca Van Keuren; five great grandchildren: Emerson Marie Mall, Aden Stanton, Andrew Wyss, Morgan Van Keuren and Lily Mei Balmer; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two daughters: Theresa and Jane Elizabeth; and three brothers: Arnold, Charles and Earl Fredenburgh.
Visitation was held December 10 at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, Monticello.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 11 at noon at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 264 No. Main Street in Liberty with Msgr. Edward Straub officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Monticello.

Margaret Toomey Smith
April 26, 1911 – Dec. 8, 2009

Margaret Toomey Smith of Forestburgh passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 98.
Born April 26, 1911 and raised in Forestburgh, she was the youngest child of Humphrey and Mary Ann Toomey.
A retired RN, Margaret completed her nurse’s training at St. Vincent’s (Catholic Medical Center, Manhattan) Hospital in 1933, the same year she married Peter J. Smith, now deceased, a New York City Police Detective. For 43 years, Margaret lived and worked in the Bronx where she was nursing supervisor in what used to be Jacobi Medical Center’s tuberculosis hospital and later in its neurology department. Upon retirement, she returned to her family’s homestead in Forestburgh where she resided independently until her hospitalization in early December.
She is survived by her three children, Capt. John P. Smith, USN retired, Pensacola, FL; Margaret Joseph, RN, Ventura, CA; and Mary Riley, East Setauket, NY; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her three sisters and six brothers.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 11 from 3-7 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Forestburgh with Msgr. Robert McCabe and Fr. Ivan Csete concelebrating.
Burial will take place at the St. Peter’s Cemetery in Monticello.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations go to St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Forestburgh NY 12777 and the Lighthouse International, www.lighthouse.org.
