Charles W. Pirich
Ret. from Western Electric, 91
Charles W. Pirich, a resident of Monticello for over 65 years, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. He was 91.
The son of the late Andrew and Anna Pirich, he was born February 10, 1919 in Czechoslovakia and came to America with his family at the age of five.
Charles was a veteran of World War II in the 8th U.S. Army Air Corps and worked for Western Electric for forty-five years. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer, bowler and gardener. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and Monticello’s Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Harriet Murran Pirich of Monticello; a son, Charles Pirich Jr. of Monticello; three daughters: Susan Pearl and her husband Don of Endwell, NY, Linda Hulse and her husband Terry of Monticello, and Jennifer Frederick of New Smyrna Beach, FL; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, John Pirich, of South Carolina; two sisters: Mary Matthews and Susan Albrecta of Binghamton; and many nieces and nephews.
Charles was predeceased by two brothers: Andrew and Michael Pirich; and two sisters: Anna Byce and Joanne Brown of Binghamton.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to a local veteran’s charity of one’s choice.

Retired Clerical Supervisor, 86
Elizabeth “Betty” (Glover) Ferber of Verona passed away July 1, 2010. She was 86.
Betty was born and raised in Colonie, NY, lived in Montclair, NJ, and settled in Verona in 1952. She was an office worker for General Electric Co. in Schenectady, NY, until 1947 and later worked for Schering Corp. in Bloomfield, NJ, as the supervisor of filing prior to her retirement. Betty was a member of the Verona Cedar Grove Chorus for over 40 years and was a Deacon in the First Presbyterian Church of Verona for over 10 years.
Beloved wife of Arthur H. Ferber.
Devoted mother of Paul Henry Ferber and his wife, Margaret, and Nanci Ellen Conforti and her husband, Thomas.
Beloved daughter of the late Thomas F. and Elizabeth Thompson (VanBuren) Glover.
Cherished grandmother of Alexandra and Peter Conforti.
Loving sister of Barbara Roberta Glover and the late Alma Mae Coonrod, Donald Francis Glover, and James T. Glover.
Visiting hours Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave. (Rt. 23), Cedar Grove, NJ.
Funeral services are Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Verona, 10 Fairview Ave., Verona.
Interment services will be held Sunday 11 a.m. at Hortonville Cemetery in Hortonville, NY.
