Alice R. Schimek
Retired Telephone Operator, 96

Alice R. Schimek of Roscoe, NY, a retired telephone operator for NY Telephone Co. and a long time area resident, died Friday, June 18, 2010 at her home. She was 96.
The daughter of the late John Rutledge II and Mary Ann McAdam Rutledge, she was born April 8, 1914 in Manhattan, NY.
Alice was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling. She was devoted to her loving family.
Survivors include her husband, Edmund C. Schimek at home; three daughters, Marianne Zozzaro of Cuddebackville, NY; Alicia Krivit of Roscoe, NY and Greta Salzberg and her husband Dr. Paul Salzberg of Lake Huntington, NY; a son-in-law, Gary Krivit of Monticello, NY; five grandchildren, Vanessa Romano and her husband Gus, David Krivit and his wife Melissa, Gavin Salzberg, Holly Salzberg and Molly Krivit; three great-grandchildren, Alexa, Gus, Jr. and Brielle; several cousins, including Walter Kuper; nieces and nephews, including Jessica Rutledge, Laura Grimes and their families, Georgette, Al and Amy Kokoszczynski and families, and her faithful companion, Eva. She was predeceased by a brother, John Rutledge III, and by a sister, Florence Bardovsky.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY. Monsignor William Collins will officiate.
Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY.

Agnes Tilson
Musician

Agnes Tilson of Callicoon, NY, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, Liberty, NY.
The daughter of Felix and Lucy DeJa Tilson, she was born in New York City.
Agnes was a member of the Callicoon Center Band and St. Mary’s RC Church in Obernburg. She and her sister Valerie McShane performed as a musical group known as “The Entertainers” at various events around Sullivan County.
She is survived by a brother, Edmund Tilson of Callicoon; a sister, Valerie McShane of Callicoon; a niece, Jeanette Pfeil and her husband John of Callicoon; and her companion and caregiver, Emerson Ebert of Callicoon.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Callicoon.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 at St. Mary’s Church in Obernburg with Father Joseph Jerasek, OFM, officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Obernburg.
