Walter John Ehrets of Forestburgh passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 13, 2010. He was 56.
The son of George and Alice Weber Ehrets, he was born March 7, 1954 in Monticello, NY.
Walter was a welder and fabricator for Sullivan County Paving & Construction Inc. and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a former Highway Superintendent for the Town of Forestburgh.
Survivors include his parents, George and Alice Ehrets of Forestburgh; his wife, Carol McNeely Ehrets, at home; a son, Russell T. Ehrets of Slidell, La.; a daughter, Laurel Rourke and her husband Jim of Ansonia, Conn.; a brother, Carl Ehrets of Forestburgh; a sister, Marie Livingston of Eldred, and “adopted sons” Daniel McCarthy and Robert Bittinger, both of Forestburgh.
Memorial services were held Monday, May 17 at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, Monticello.

Nancy Conjura
Bookkeeper, 77

Nancy “Gigi” Conjura, a homemaker and 34-year resident of Grahamsville, NY, entered into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, May 16, 2010 after a brave battle with cancer. She was 77.
The daughter of the late Thomas and Carmella De Palma, she was born on April 26, 1933 in Monsey, NY.
Nancy graduated from Spring Valley High School and received a degree in English literature from Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ, after raising her family. She loved to be a substitute elementary school teacher both in Stuart, Fla. and the Fallsburg School District. She taught religious instruction classes at Holy Redeemer Church in Palm City, Fla., and worked for the Sisters of the Most Holy Soul of Christ in Stuart, Fla. She also volunteered her time at the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Stuart, Fla.
In Spring Valley, Nancy was employed by Stewart Sandwiches as a bookkeeper, and also sold Dutchmaid clothes and Stanley Home Products.
After moving to Grahamsville, she worked for NY Telephone Co., McDonald’s, New Age Health Spa, New Hope Rehabilitation and later as a switchboard operator at Woodbourne Correctional Facility.
Nancy was involved with many community organizations over the years. She was a little league coach for the “Recs” in the Spring Valley Recreation Association, helping her husband run the team. She was the CYO advisor at The Immaculate Conception Church in Woodbourne for many years. In addition, Nancy was the secretary of the Neversink Agricultural Society, president of the Tri-Valley Lions’ Club, and a published poet and a member of the Alchemy Club in Grahamsville. She was a communicant at the Immaculate Conception Church in Woodbourne.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bill, at home; three children: son, Martin (Tim) Conjura, and wife, Joan, of Grahamsville; son, Thomas Conjura, and wife, Patricia, of Highland Mills, NY; daughter, Nancy Colgan, and husband Jeff, of Greenville, NY; six grandchildren: grandson, Will Conjura and fiancée, Staci Molaison, of Grahamsville; granddaughter, Maria Reininger and husband, Urban Reininger IV, of East Hampton, NY; and grandson, Thomas Conjura, and wife, Kylie, of Neversink, NY; grandson, Thomas Conjura, and wife Stephanie, of Monroe, NY; grandson, Michael Conjura, and fiancée, Cindy Figueroa, of Highland Mills; grandson, Timothy Colgan, of Greenville, NY; six great-grandchildren: three great-granddaughters, Natalie and Katherine Reininger of East Hampton, and Nina Conjura, of Highland Mills; three great grandsons, Tyler and Johnny Conjura of Neversink and Michael Conjura of Highland Mills; her sister, Mary Kimbark and her husband, Bill, of Greene, NY; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Louis, of Endicott, NY.
“Gigi” took great joy in the doings of all her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on May 18.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19 at the Immaculate Conception Church with Father John Lynch officiating.

Palma ‘Pam’ Porpora, 91
April 13, 1919 – May 16, 2010

Palma Ann “Pam” Porpora passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 in New Jersey surrounded by her loved ones. She was a longtime resident of Rock Hill, NY, residing in New Jersey with her daughter for the past eight years.
The daughter of the late Antonio and Flavia Porpora, she was born April 13, 1919 in East Haven, Conn.
For over fifty years Pam resided in Rock Hill with her former husband, Frank Porpora. Together they were owners of the Dodge Inn Steak House. Pam was a lifelong member of the Rock Hill Fire Dept. and Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She was a charter member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and involved in numerous community services. If you needed anything, just dial “P” for Pam. She had a wonderful sense of humor and kept a positive attitude no matter what. She could light up a room with her smile. Pam will be missed by everyone whose heart she touched.
She is survived by her three children, Rosanne Wise of New Jersey, Anthony Porpora of Rock Hill, and Frankie Porpora of Florida; four grandchildren: Julia Ann and Jeff Horner, Anthony and Jennifer Cacciarelli, Marissa and Robert Figurito and Michael Porpora; great-grandchildren: Alexa Marie, Jake Cacciarelli; and numerous nieces and nephews. She had four sisters who are all deceased.
Visitation will be held at the VanInwegen-Kenny Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 20.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 21 at St. Peter’s Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello, with her nephew, Fr. Robert Porpora, officiating.
Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven, Conn.
