PFC. Jason M. Kropat
April 10, 1984-March 9, 2010

Our Son, Brother, and Protector, PFC, Jason Michael Kropat of Smallwood, New York, died in Afghanistan on March 9, 2010, serving his country. He was 25.
Born on April 10, 1984, he touched many lives and had many friends. We thank God for giving him to us, even if it was for a short time. Jason was born and raised in Sullivan County. He attended Monticello High School, and was very active in our community. Jason made the decision to protect our nation and enlisted in the United States Army in November of 2008 and completed basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia on March 6, 2009. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts and minds.
Jason was the loving son of Glenn and Kathleen Kropat of Fredericksburg, TX; a loving brother to Kristina of Cochecton, Kimberley of Monticello, and Courtney, also of Cochecton, NY; loving uncle to Evin John, RJ, and Kyle; the grandson of Janet Kropat, and the late Hans (Gary) Kropat, and the late Eugene and Jeanne Baier; and beloved boyfriend of Shannon Kinne. He is also survived by his 17 aunts, and uncles, as well as 18 cousins.
Jason’s family will receive friends on Thursday, March 18, from 2 p.m.-9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701.
The Funeral for our fallen hero will be held on Friday, March 19, at noon at the Reformed Presbyterian Church, State Route 17B in White Lake, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in the Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel.
A scholarship in Jason’s name will be established in the very near future; in the interim, donations or correspondence for such may be made to P.O. Box 464, Smallwood, NY 12778.

Barbara Ruth Goebel
Licensed Practical Nurse, 60

Barbara Ruth Goebel of Jeffersonville, a Licensed Practical Nurse at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at CRMC, Harris. She was 60.
The daughter of Ruth H. Seibert Allison and the late Francis Allison, she was born June 2, 1949 in Callicoon. She was the wife of Herman E. Goebel.
Barbara was a member of the Jeffersonville Lutheran Church, and also worked for Wellness Home Care in Goshen, NY.
She is survived by her husband, Herman E. Goebel, at home; her mother, Ruth H. Allison of Jeffersonville; her three canine daughters, Molly, Maggie, and Emma; one brother, David Allison and his wife Nancy of Walnut Creek, Calif.; one sister, Susan D’Amore and her husband Paul of Newtonville, Mass.; one niece, Jennifer Allison; three nephews, Michael Allison, Christopher D’Amore, and Paul Anthony D’Amore.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville.
Services will be held Wednesday, March 17 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Kit Robison officiating.
Burial will be in the Jeffersonville Lutheran Cemetery.

Ruth Ann Lenihan

Ruth Ann “Jane” Lenihan of Forestdale, Mass. died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Cape Cod Hospital from complications of lung cancer.
Born in Roscoe, NY, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Ethel (Smith) Bury. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Edward J. Lenihan.
Also surviving is a sister Susan (Santo) DiFazio of Holtsville, NY; two brothers, Donald (Mary) Bury of Ellenville, NY, and Thomas (Donna) Bury of Jeffersonville, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
It was Jane’s request that private family services be held.

Arnold F. Froehlich
Retired Mechanic, 92

Arnold F. Froehlich, a lifelong resident of Walton passed away early Friday morning, March 12, 2010 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center of Harris, following a short illness. He was 92.
Arnold was born August 21, 1917 in Hazel, NY, the son of the late George and Ida (Schrier) Froehlich.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was self-employed for many years as a mechanic and later at the Walton Central School bus garage. He was a longtime member of the Walton First United Methodist Church, and a longtime member and past secretary of the Delaware County Fair.
He is survived by eight daughters, Teresa Smith of Corning, NY, Jean (Harry) Southard of Zephyrhills, Fla., Joyce (Don) French of Corning, Rosemarie (Gene) Beecher of Corning, Shirley (Kenneth) DeWert of Lincolnton, NC, Mary (Bill) Bills of Va., Loraine (Angel) SanFeliz of Woodridge, and Anna May (Bill) Kloss of Grahamsville; five sons, Bob (Ina) Froehlich of Corning, Gene (Carol) Froehlich of Livingston Manor, John (Shirley) Froehlich of Syracuse, Edward (Patricia) Froehlich of Walton, Paul (Hope) Froehlich of Neversink, and Roy (Rose) Froehlich of Shelby, NC; his second wife, Wanda Froehlich of Monticello; two brothers, Charles (Holly) Froehlich of Sanford, NC, and Robert (Margaret) Froehlich of Monticello; 32 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two wives, Rose and Doris; three brothers, George, Leo and Fred; and one sister, Veronica.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 15, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Walton with the Rev. Mark Del Giudice officiating. Burial was made in Walton Cemetery, with full military honors.
