Robert Bowser of South Fallsburg, left, and Ciara Suarez of Wyandanch are suspects in the killing of Hercules Jones of Monticello on Monday.

Trio charged in Monticello murder

By Dan Hust
MONTICELLO — April 9, 2010 — Three people were arrested this week on suspicion of being involved in Monday’s alleged murder in Monticello.
Monticello Police confirmed this week that they have charged Stanley Hunter, 22, of Ferndale, Robert Bowser, 18, of South Fallsburg and Ciara Suarez, 24, of Wyandanch with murder in the second degree. Hunter was also charged with violating his parole for a recent burglary conviction.
Though Police Chief Doug Solomon would not speculate on a motive, he said the three remain in Sullivan County Jail without bail for allegedly murdering Jones, a 34-year-old Monticello man shot in the left leg in front of 39 Landfield Avenue on Monday.
While being prepared for a medical flight to a downstate trauma center, Jones went into cardiac arrest and was later pronounced dead.
Solomon would not say whether there will be more arrests.
“It’s still under investigation,” he explained.
