FALLSBURG — January 13, 2006 – The visiting Livingston Manor Lady Wildcats cruised to a 52-16 win over the Fallsburg Lady Comets on Wednesday night in a non-league game of hoops.
Livingston Manor’s Heather Sherwood was the game’s top scorer with 16 points.
“It was pretty good, but we had a lot of turnovers,” said Sherwood, a 17-year-old senior guard.
The Lady Wildcats outpaced and outhustled the opposition in all four frames: 14-3, 11-6, 17-5 and 10-2.
Manor held a commanding 25-9 advantage at halftime.
In addition to Sherwood, Jackie Trotti and Katie Portz scored in double figures for the Lady Wildcats. Trotti recorded 14 points and Portz netted 11 points.
Crystal Pettway led the Lady Comets with five points.
“We played hard,” said Tara Strauss, coach of Fallsburg’s JV squad who filled in for absent varsity coach Les Hyde.
Manor Coach Kevin Clifford said it was a good win.
He also noted that his team will be playing its fourth game of the week tonight. (The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to visit Eldred at 6:30 p.m. tonight for an Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association Division VI game.)
“We were a little tired going into it, but we shot the ball well,” Clifford said of the game versus the Lady Comets.
