Empty Fremont Home Consumed By Flames

By Dan Hust
NORTH BRANCH — December 29, 2006 — North Branch Fire Department Chief Alan Welton would like to know who the owner of a North Branch home is, because it burned down on Tuesday.
North Branch, Callicoon, Callicoon Center, Hortonville and Hankins-Fremont Center fire departments responded to the blaze on Warner Rd. shortly after 11 a.m., said Welton.
They found the two-story Town of Fremont home completely engulfed and spent the next four hours extinguishing the flames.
Welton said firefighters had to return to the property later that evening to douse a few flareups.
The Upper Delaware Ambulance Corps also responded, but there were no injuries.
While the aged house did have active electrical service, Welton said it was currently unoccupied. Although the owner or owners are unknown, he said it was formerly called the House of Treasures Kennel.
A cause has yet to be determined, said the chief.
