HANCOCK — September 30, 2005 – It’s gotta be tough not having a win under your belt.
But the sign of a good team is playing with a lot of heart.
The Family School Lady Falcons did just that in Tuesday afternoon’s Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Division VI soccer match versus the visiting Chapel Field Lady Lions.
Despite their best efforts, the Lady Falcons suffered a 7-0 defeat to Chapel Field (3-3, 3-0 Division VI).
The Lady Lions scored five goals in the first half: Bethany Chabeot (assisted by Jessica Wiejak), Wiejak (assisted by Chabeot), Cassie Searle (assisted by Chabeot). Chabeot added a pair of unassisted goals.
In the second half, the Lady Lions added two goals as Chabeot and Wiejak both beat Family School goalie Jessica Fairweather.
Fairweather made 20 saves on the afternoon, while Lady Eagle goalkeeper Jenna Vellenga had five.
Chapel Field outshot the Lady Falcons 27-5.
“We’re super talented, but our girls are working hard trying to develop some [more] skills,” Family School Coach Joe Lichty said.
“They’re working hard, and have a good attitude,” he added.
