Paula B. Domfort
Ret’d. Bookkeeper, 73

Paula B. Domfort of Montgomery, a retired bookkeeper and formerly of Jeffersonville, died Monday, December 19, 2005 at her home. She was 73 years of age.
The daughter of the late Nathan and Sylvia Bodenstein, she was born July 23, 1932 in Liberty.
She was a bookkeeper for the Sarah Wells Girl Scout Council and Barmen’s Realty. She was one of the founders of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Middletown Elks Lodge #1097, where she was treasurer for several years, and also held various positions in the Walden Jewish Community Center, of which she was an active member.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Stanley, at home; two daughters, Debra Kordiak and her husband, Robert, of N. Carolina, and Sheryl Domfort and her companion, Rosa Rea, of Fishkill; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sharon Domfort of Maryland; grandchildren, Jacqueline Goodman and her husband, Philip, of Calif., Kira Kordiak and her boyfriend, Cary Sahler, of Goshen, Devon Valdasere of Maryland, James Domfort of Delaware, and Stacie and Stephanie Anderson of Maryland; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Millspaugh Funeral Home in Walden.
Burial was made in the Beth Hillel Cemetery in Walden.

Richard Turner, 59
Ret’d. Security Guard

Richard Victor Turner of Florida, a retired security guard, died Monday, December 19, 2005 at the Arden Hill campus of Orange Regional Medical Center in Goshen. He was 59 years of age.
The son of Mary Thomas Turner, he was born August 18, 1946 in Yonkers.
He is survived by a sister, Geraldine Turner of Florida; a brother, William Turner of Liberty; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home in Florida. Burial was made in the Florida Cemetery.

Elsie A. Felske
Teacher & Waitress

Elsie A. Felske of Roscoe, a former teacher and waitress, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. She was 93 years of age.
The daughter of Arthur and Florence Bull La Polt, she was born May 30, 1912 in White Sulphur Springs. She was the widow of Albert Felske.
She had taken teacher training at the State University at Delhi and taught at the former Russell Brook School in the Town of Colchester, Delaware County. She also worked from 1937-1950 as a forelady in an assembly plant, and from 1950-1958 as a waitress in a restaurant in Liberty, and at the Miss Monticello Diner in Monticello. She attended the Roscoe Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by a sister, Evelyn Crumley of Kenai, Alaska; a close friend, Glenda Wensley of Wallkill; a special nephew, Robert Felske and his wife, Muriel, of Sidney; two special nieces, Grace Engard and her husband, Harold, and June Filo and her husband, Matt, all of Binghamton; and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Arthur Crumley; five brothers, Arthur, Maurice, Gerald, John and Wilbur La Polt; and a sister, Florence Aumick.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. on Monday, December 26, at the Ramsay’s Funeral Home, Inc., 275 South Main St., Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27 at the funeral home with Rev. Randall Ruppart officiating.
Burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel.

Arthur Thompson
Ret’d. Engineer, 85
Arthur S. Thompson, a retired member of Operating Engineers Local #825 and formerly of Newburgh, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Cornwall Hospital. He was 85 years of age.
The son of the late Fred and Alice Milliken Thompson, he was born August 27, 1920 in Newburgh. He was the widower of Anna Thompson, who died December 20, 2003.
He is survived by two sons, Arthur Thompson Jr. of Marlboro, and Steven Thompson of Wurtsboro; two sisters, Shirley Gilmore and Harriet Thompson, both of Newburgh; three brothers, Roland of Wallkill, George of Calif., and Charles of the state of Florida; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home Inc., 318 N. Montgomery St., Newburgh with Father John Vondras officiating.
Burial will be made in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh.

Stefania Oliwa, 79
Frmr. Emp. of Pines Hotel

Stefania Oliwa of Jeffersonville, the former head of housekeeping for the Pines Hotel in South Fallsburg and a longtime area resident, died Monday, December 19, 2005 at the Seelig Division of Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 79 years of age.
The daughter of the late Leon and Sophie Czarnobaj, she was born June 1, 1926 in Poland. She was the widow of Stanley Oliwa who died in 1983.
Mrs. Oliwa was involved with various community service projects including elections. She attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Woodbourne.
She is survived by two sons, Peter Oliwa of Parksville and Theodore Oliwa of South Fallsburg; and four brothers, Walter Black of Middletown, Raymond Nash, Charles Czarnobaj, and Peter Czarnobaj, all of England. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Czarnobaj.
Cremation was made by the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
