Alice T. Turbak
Homemaker, 78

Alice T. Turbak of New Hampton, a homemaker and a longtime area resident, died Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 78 years of age.
The daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie Kowalewski Rykowski, she was born February 10, 1927, in Paterson, N.J. She was the widow of Benny Turbak and Edward J. Oriani Sr.
Mrs. Turbak is survived by her children, Shirley McKelvey of Wurtsboro, Benny Turbak and his wife, Sophie, of Greenville, Edna Oriani and her fiance, Alan Cromwell, of New Hampton, Edward J. Oriani Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Port Jervis, and Daniel T. Jones of New Hampton, whom she loved as a son; five grandchildren, Cody and Conner Pellew, Jamie Turbak, Heather Jones, Edward J. Oriani III and Colleen Oriani; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home in Middletown.
Burial was made in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown.

Algie Zukas Jr.
Maintenance Wrk., 44

Algie Zukas Jr. of Barryville, a maintenance worker, died Friday, August 5, 2005, at the Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 44 years of age.
The son of Delia Friest Zukas and the late Algie Zukas Sr., he was born April 15, 1961, in Great Neck.
Mr. Zukas was a member of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in Yulan.
In a family statement, it was said, “Algie was a loving son and friend to many. He will greatly be missed by all that knew him.”
He is survived by his mother of Barryville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in Yulan with the Rev. Anthony Moore officiating.
Cremation was made at the H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg, Pa.
Burial of the cremains will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Eldred.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home in Barryville.

Michael Terrebetzky
Tempco Co. Retiree, 87

Michael Terrebetzky of Glen Spey, retired from the Tempco Company of New York City, died Saturday, August 6, 2005, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J. He was 87 years of age.
The son of the late Anthony and Mary Terrebetzky, he was born May 15, 1918, in Lehigh, Pa. He was the widower of Julia Chrobatenko Terrebetzky who died July 22, 2003.
Mr. Terrebetzky was a member of St. Volodymyr’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Glen Spey.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Andrew Drapak of Belle Mead, N.J., and Ann and Nick Grodzickyj of South Brunswick, N.J.; five grandchildren, Lydia Gusmerotti and her husband, Dan, of Lamberton, N.J., Nick Grodzickyj of New York City, Christopher Grodzickyj of South Brunswick, N.J., and Andrew Drapak and Michael Drapak, both of Belle Mead, N.J.; and a great-grandson, Matthew Gusmerotti.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday with a Liturgy Mass at St. Volodymyr’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Glen Spey with the Rev. Mark Hirniak officiating.
Burial will be made in the Glen Spey Cemetery.

A. David Summers
Inspector, 57

A. David Summers of Sparrowbush, an inspector for National Fields Inc. in Spring Valley and a longtime area resident, died Thursday, August 4, 2005, at the Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 57 years of age.
The son of the late Arthur and Dolly Jesse Summers, he was born September 6, 1947, in Buchanon, W. Va.
Mr. Summers is survived by his companion of many years, Diana Silien, at home; his wife, Linda M. Ethridge Summers of Port Jervis; a son, Davon J. Etheridge and his fiancée, Georgiana, of Rock Hill; and 10 sisters and brothers, Roy Summers, Ted Summers, John Summers, Helen Summers, Greg Blagg,  Emma Cutright, Vicki Oldaker, Janet Lough, Jerry Summers and Andy Summers; his godson, David DiMarisco of Sparrowbush; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Becci Flannery.
Services were held Monday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis.
Burial was made in the Rural Valley Cemetery in Cuddebackville.

Alice Gershon
Ret. Secretary, 90

Alice Gershon of Ellenville, a retired secretary for the Ellenville National Bank, died Saturday, August 6, 2005, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 90 years of age.
The daughter of the late David and Ida Plotkin, she was born June 1, 1915, in the Bronx. She was the widow of Joel Gershon and Morris Berman.
Mrs. Gershon was a member of Congregation Anshe Tzaydik.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Martha Gerson; three grandchildren, Donna, Steven and Jamie Gerson; five great-grandchildren, Jason and Keith Lajoie, Julie Kulp and her husband, Dan, Jillian Gerson and Joel Gershon and his wife, Lisa; and three great-great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Ethan and Noah Gershon. She was predeceased by a son, Murray Gershon.
Graveside services and burial were held Monday at the Congregation Anshe of Glen Wild with Rabbi Moshe Frank officiating.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.

Wilma Q. Raynor, 52

Wilma Q. “Queenie” Raynor of Hurleyville, a longtime resident of Sullivan County, died Friday, August 5, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 52 years of age.
She is survived by her mother, Irma Jean Raynor of North Carolina; her grandmother, Fonnie Raynor of North Carolina; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis (Raynor) and Clifford Surrett of Virginia and Terri Ann and George Ellis of New York; two brothers, Reginald Raynor of New York and Lamont Raynor of North Carolina; a daughter, Anquenetta Williams of New York; two sons, Darryl Raynor and his wife, Elise, and Eric Davis, all of New York; nine grandchildren; a niece and several nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Shanta Marie Raynor.
Friends may call on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Carl Caskey officiating.
Interment will be made in the Woodbourne Reform Cemetery.

Gordon F. Sheeley
Ret. Laborer, 81

Gordon F. Sheeley of Summitville, a lifelong area resident and a retired laborer for Local 17 in Newburgh, died Friday, August 5, 2005, at his home. He was 81 years of age.
The son of the late Fred and Gladys Hornbeck Sheeley, he was born October 4, 1923, in Accord.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Sheeley was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a former member of Kimble Hose Company in Ellenville.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Lybolt Sheeley, at home; several children, including his daughter and caregiver, Joan Kent of Summitville; several grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by a son, Howard, a daughter, Joy McCombs, and three brothers, Walt, Ralph and Harold Sheeley.
Friends may call at the Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in the Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
