Grand Jury to Get
Shooting Case

By Nathan Mayberg
MONTICELLO — October 22, 2004 – Sean McCrave, charged with felony counts of second-degree manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in the shooting death of 26-year-old Thyl Eggink of Smallwood, continues to sit in jail as the Sullivan County District Attorney’s office prepares to present a grand jury with an indictment.
McCrave’s bail will be set at an upcoming bail hearing.
Eggink was killed when he was shot in the chest Sunday afternoon with a .38 revolver as the two watched a football game. The two are said to be friends, according to Sullivan County District Attorney Stephen Lungen.
Lungen said McCrave was visiting his parents’ seasonal home in White Lake at the time.
McCrave, 33, is a resident of Mineola, Long Island.
More than two people were in the home at the time, and somebody inside the house made the 911 call.
A grand jury will decide whether the evidence merits trial in Sullivan County Court.
Both the Sullivan County DA’s office and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department are continuing with their investigations.
