WHITE LAKE — October 19, 2004 – Thyl Eggink, 26, of Bethel was killed Sunday afternoon after being shot at the McCrave residence on Hemlock Road in White Lake.
Sean McCrave, 33, of Mineola, was arrested and charged with manslaughter in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
According to Sullivan County Sheriff’s Detective Don Starner, the victim was shot once by a .38-caliber revolver, sometime around 2 p.m. Sunday. He would not release the location of the wound.
Eggink was pronounced dead at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris after attempts to save his life failed.
The shooting remains under investigation. Additional information – such as whether there were any witnesses, the details of the relationship between the two men, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting – will be focused upon, according to Starner. Further charges could arise as the case progresses.
McCrave was arraigned in Town of Bethel Justice Court on Sunday and locked up in Sullivan County Jail without bail pending a court appearance last night.
