Dominate Meet

GRAHAMSVILLE — May 30, 2003 – Heather Iatauro won four individual events last Friday to help the Tri-Valley Lady Bears win the girls’ Section IX Class C Track and Field Championship.
Iatauro, a junior, earned first place finishes in the 800-meter run (2:23.6), 1,500 (4:56.1), 2,000 steeplechase (7:27.4) and the 3,000 (10:11.0) at the event, which was held at Tri-Valley Central School.
The Lady Bears scored 199 points, well ahead of second place Millbrook and its total of 134 1/2. Liberty finished third with 85 1/2 points and Fallsburg was seventh with 20 points.
In Class D girls’ competition, Livingston Manor finished third with 90 points and Eldred was fifth with 56 points.
In the Class C boys’ standings, Liberty was second with 131 points – just two points behind champion Millbrook. T-V was fourth with 97 points and Fallsburg was seventh with eight points.
Eldred finished second in the Class D boys’ standings. The Yellowjackets earned 190 points, just behind John A. Coleman’s 197. Manor was third with 166 points.
In addition to Iatauro, a few other county athletes won more than one individual event at the meet. They included Renauld Buck of Liberty, Lindsay Fisk of Livingston Manor, Andrea Kavleski of Liberty and Matt Manzi of Liberty.
Buck won the discus, shot put and triple jump in the Class C boys’ competition. He threw the discus 137 ft., 8 inches, put the shot 50-1 3/4 and triple jumped a distance of 37-2.
He was also a member of the Indians’ 400 relay team that captured first place in that event. Buck, Mike Salvia, Nick Christian and Doug Yaun won the event in 46.7 seconds.
Fisk won the 1,500 (5:34.8) and 3,000 (11:50.3) in Class D girls’ competition. She was also second in the 800 with a time of 2:40.5.
Kavleski won the discus and shot put events in Class C girls’ competition. She threw the discus 117-0 1/2 and put the shot 34-9.
Manzi won the Class C boys’ 400 and 800 races, finishing in 53.0 and 2:02.3, respectively. He was also part of the winning 1,600 relay team. Manzi, Eric Parkhurst, Mike Salvia and Nick Christian, won that event in a time of 3:42.4.
Several other county athletes earned top three finishes in various events and those results are as follows:
