LIBERTY’S JEREMY LIU grabs a rebound during a Liberty game earlier this season.

Tough Year
For Liberty Boys

By Rob Potter

March 18, 2003 – Liberty

Overall Record: 3-13

League Record: 2-6 OCIAA Division IV

Top Performers: Senior Nick Christian paced the Indian offense by averaging 14 points per game.
Fellow senior Matt Black scored an average of 10.6 points a game.
Seniors Renauld Buck and Jeremy Liu each grabbed an average of seven rebounds per game.

Season Highlight(s): “We had a lot of close games this year,” Coach Ed Riente said. “We played Fallsburg tough; we only lost by five points the second time we played them. We played Tri-Valley tough and Chester tough.
“We were in most games this season until the last two minutes. But then we couldn’t shoot the ball.”

Season Lowlight(s): “We worked so hard, it would have been nicer to win a couple of more games,” Riente said. “A couple of more bounces our way and we could have been a .500 team.”

Other: “The effort the kids made this season was great,” Riente said. “They were diving after loose balls and really competing out there.”
