LOCH SHELDRAKE — February 11, 2003 – In their march to the upcoming NJCAA Division III tournament, the Sullivan County Community College Generals defeathered the Rockland Community College Hawks by 33 points, 88-55, Thursday night at Paul Gerry Fieldhouse.
Despite a slow start, SCCC (18-3, 13-0 Region XV) started to wake up and smell the roses of victory.
At the half, the Generals led 40-26, and within the first two and a half minutes of the second half, had jumped out to a 20-point lead, 51-31.
At the midpoint of the second half, they were up by a 70-40 margin and the SCCC coaching staff started emptying the bench, giving the whole team some minutes of floor time.
A quartet of Generals reached double figures: Haron Hargrave (14), Gary Jones (13), Keith Bussey (11) and Glenn Davis (10).
For Rockland, Johnnie Carter scored a game-high 17 points.
Stats from the free throw line: SCCC 12/22 (55%); RCC 9/13 (69%).
“I thought we played real hard, real aggressive,” SCCC Coach Chad Beeten said. “Without a doubt, it was our best game of the season in terms of sharing the ball.”
