What's Ahead
For the Raceway?

Edited by Rob Potter
MONTICELLO — January 3, 2003 – The 46th season of harness racing at Monticello Raceway began on Wednesday (Jan. 1) and will continue until New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31).
Racing, with just a few exceptions, will be on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. However, due to New York State racing regulations, there can be no Sunday racing on Palm or Easter Sundays (April 13 and 20).
Other changes include added Thursday programs on April 17, April 24 and September 4 along with five Saturday cards (July 5, 12, 19, 26 and Aug. 2).
During January, February, March and continuing through Sunday, April 6 and continuing through Saturday, October 25 post times will be at 1:05 p.m Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). Then on Sunday, October 26 – the first day of Eastern Standard Time – the post times will be pushed back to 12:40 p.m.
The only night time race card during the year will be held on Saturday, July 5 and will feature the track’s fabulous fireworks extravaganza. Post time for that program will be at 7:30 p.m. After that, Saturday racing will continue on four afternoons until August 2, with each program getting underway at 1:05 p.m.
In all, 214 dates will comprise the Mighty M’s 2003 live racing season.
