Geraldine M. DelGado
Retired Legal Secretary, 63

Geraldine Marie Cook DelGado, a retired legal secretary, and a resident of Fallsburg, died on Friday, August 22, 2003, at home. She was 63 years of age.
The daughter of Ernest and Erma Dischlatis Cook, she was born October 12, 1939 in Monticello.
Mrs. DelGado was a graduate of the Eastern Bible Institute of Greenlane, Pa. and an avid pianist and organist. She was also devoted to spreading the word of our Lord.
Survivors include two sons, Jason DelGado, at home, and Dennis DelGado and his wife, Julia, of Rutherford, N.J.; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Caitlin DelGado and Brianna Therese DelGado; two brothers, Ernest D. Cook and his wife Barbara of Louisiana, and Wesley Cook and his wife, Elinor, of Fallsburg; and family in Florida.
She was the widow of Louis F. DelGado.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main St., Woodbourne.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Roy Shaffer officiating.
Cremation will be at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.
Burial of ashes will take place on Thursday, August 28 in the afternoon at Westbrookville Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in her name to Spread the Word of God; to the Eastern Bible Institute; or to the church of one’s choice.
Arrangements were under the direction of Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, Woodbourne.

Jewelle Robertson
Retired Legal Typist, 68

Jewelle Robertson, a retired legal typist, a resident of Liberty, and a long-time resident of Woodbourne, died Thursday, August 21, 2003 in New York City. She was 68 years of age.
The daughter of Berkeley and Augusta Yates Smith, she was born on March 2, 1935 in Norfolk, Va.
She was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Woodbourne.
Survivors include her son, Dominic B. Robertson II and his fiancee, Carmen Rios, of Yonkers; a sister, Margot A. Charles and her husband, Clarence of Houston; and a nephew, Robert Charles of Houston.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main St., Woodbourne.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 28 at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Rt. 42, Woodbourne with Father John Lynch officiating.
Cremation will be at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.
Contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 785 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY 10605.

Virginia C. Roberts
Homemaker, 71

Virginia Carlucci Roberts, a homemaker and a resident of Wurtsboro and Death Valley, Calif., died on Friday, August 22, 2003 at her Wurtsboro home. She was 71 years of age.
The daughter of the late Jenny Rodgers and Lester Earl Hunnel, she was born September 28, 1931 in North Platte, Neb.
She started the first dancing school in Wurtsboro a number of years ago, and also was the former owner of both “Gifts & Things” and “The Creation Station” in Wurtsboro.
She loved ceramics, flowers and gardening. She was also involved with the National Park Service out West.
Survivors inlcude her eight children, Virdanna Lawrence of Wurtsboro, Daniel Carlucci of Raleigh, N.C., Jennifer Moxley of Yorktown, Va.; Pam Platt of Wurtsboro, Margo Moxley of Yorktown, Va.; Margo Drakos of Kaysville, Utah, Lula Carlucci of Kaysville, Utah, Patricia Carlucci of Syracuse, Utah, and Vincent Carlucci, who resides in Germany; 25 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three sisters, Arletha Ruth Patee of Radcliffe, Ky., Jean Pierce of Spokane, Wa., and Barbara Hobbs, of Ky.; a half-sister, Elaina Wall; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by another half-sister.
A Funeral Mass will be held today at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Sullivan Street, Wurtsboro with the Rev. Peter Madori officiating.
Burial will be in Sylvan Cemetery, Wurtsboro.

Beatrice Rosen
Retired Graphic Designer, 99

Beatrice Rosen, a retired graphic designer in New York City, and long-time area resident, died Sunday, August 24, 2003 in the Skilled Nursing Unit of Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris. She was 99 years of age.
She was born in Brooklyn on August 13, 1904 and was the daughter of Nathan Evens and Rose Evens.
She was the widow of Philip Rosen.
Mrs. Rosen was a member of the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association, and Fallsburg Chapter of Hadassah.
She is survived by her son, Hilton Rosen, and his wife, Mildred Pafundi Rosen; one granddaughter, Sharon R. DiPietro and her husband, Gerald; one great granddaughter, Rose; her nephew, Ward Mintz; and her niece, Nathana Rosen.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday in the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association Cemetery, Glen Wild. Rabbi Isaac Gottlieb officiated.
Funeral arrangements were by Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, Inc., Monticello.

Nora T. O’Mahony
Devoted Mother, 103

Nora T. O’Mahony, a resident of Bloomingburg, formerly of Upper Nyack, died on Friday, August 22, 2003 in Goshen. She was 103 years of age.
Mrs. O’Mahony immigrated to the United States from Ireland in 1929, settling in Upper Nyack. She was a member of St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Nyack and St. Ann’s Rosary Society. She was a foster grandmother for many years at the St. Agatha Home. Mrs. O’Mahony moved to her daughter’s home in Bloomingburg in 1990.
Survivors include her five children, Noreen O’Mahony of Southfields, Kathleen Patricia Krychear of Goshen, Eileen O’Mahony and Mark Byers of Yardley, Pa., James B. and Elizabeth O’Mahony of Francestown, N.H., and William Tobin (Toby) O’Mahony of New City; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was predeceased by her husband, F. William O’Mahony in 1980.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Nyack.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Nyack.
Donations may be made to Camp Venture, 100 Convent Road, Nanuet, N.Y. 10954.

John W. Powderly
Retired Counselor, 66

John W. “Jack” Powderly of Mohican Lake, a retired rehabilitation counselor for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in Honesdale, Pa., and a lifelong resident of the area, died Friday, August 22, 2003 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 66 years of age.
The son of the late John W. and Sarah Jones Powderly, he was born on September 10, 1936 in Scranton, Pa.
He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in the Korean War; member of the American Legion; and he attended the Hope Free Church in Matamoras, Pa.
Survivors include his wife, Lois J. King Powderly at home; two sons, Michael Powderly of Palm Bay, Fla., and Scott Decker of Ellenville; three daughters, Trudy Mueller and her husband, Kelly, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Rebecca Morris of Hawley, Pa., and Kathleen Hammer of Manassas, Va.; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday with the Rev. Nancy VonderHorst officiating.
Interment will be private.

Minnie A. Stewart
Long-time Resident, 72

Minnie A. Stewart, a lifetime resident of Neversink, died on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 72 years of age.
The daughter of Daniel and Beatrice Davis Akerley, she was born on January 22, 1931 in Grahamsville.
A family statement read, “Minnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who always went above and beyond with her love and loyalty. Her strong faith in the Lord shone through and made a lasting impression on whomever she met. Her never-ending love will always be felt and live forever in the hearts of her family and friends. She will never be forgotten.”
Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Parksville United Methodist Church, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW of Neversink, the Christian Women of Sullivan County and the Senior Citizens of Liberty.
Survivors include her husband, LeRoy at home; one daughter, Cheryl Mansfield of Monticello; one son, LeRoy, Jr., and his wife, Laura of Bradley; five sisters, Virginia Dunn of Hasbrouck, Vera Atkins of Neversink, Ella Charter of Grahamsville, Thelma Dobell of Florida, and Audrey Curry of Curry; one brother, John Akerly of Neversink; six grandchildren, Nina Bohan, LeRoy Stewart III and Benjamin Stewart, Mary Mansfield, John Mansfield, Jr. and Jennifer Wright; three great-grandchildren, Liam Jr., Brendon, and Jonathan, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel and Floyd.
A funeral service was held Saturday, August 23 at the Parksville United Methodist Church with the Rev. BeBe Loizeaux and Stewart Pohlman officiating.
Interment was in the Grahamsivlle Rural Cemetery, Grahamsville.
Donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN or the American Cancer Society, 95 Schwenk Dr., Kingston, NY 12401.

“Bud” O. Stranahan
Retired Town Clerk, 82

Milton “Bud” O. Stranahan of Narrowsburg, the retired owner and operator of Stranahan’s Store in Narrowsburg, and lifetime area resident, died Thursday, August 21, 2003 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pa. He was 82 years of age.
The son of Augustus J. and Alice M. Igler Stranahan, he was born on August 9, 1921 in Narrowsburg. He was married to the late Ella V. Mayers Stranahan, who passed away in 2002.
Mr. Stranahan was treasurer of the Tusten Historical Society; member of the Tusten Lions Club, the Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce, the Narrowsburg Fire Department, the American Legion Post in Eldred, as well as former secretary-treasurer of the American Legion Post #1020 in Narrowsburg.
He was also a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and former financial secretary and member of the church council. He was a former secretary-treasurer of the Narrowsburg Fire District and a member of the Delaware Lodge #561 F&AM in Callicoon. He was a retired town clerk of the Town of Tusten, having served for more than 30 years. He was also a veteran of the US Army Air Force, having served during WWII.
Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Janowski and her husband, James, of Narrowsburg; Wanda Bidwell and her husband, Victor, of Hartselle, Ala.; six grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Anita Foster.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Narrowsburg at a time and date to be announced.
Cremation will take place at Twin Tiers Crematory, Endicott.
Burial of the cremains will be in Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Stained Glass Window Fund, Narrowsburg, NY 12764.

Roland E. Flora
Conservationist, 89

Roland E. Flora of Narrowsburg, a 58-year resident of the area, died on Thursday, August 21, 2003 at Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 89 years of age.
He was a retired owner and operator of Laurel Hill Cabins in Narrowsburg, and also handcrafted Boy Scout neckerchief slides and marketed them nationwide through his trade name — Slide Farm.
The son of Walter H. and Bessie Sadler Flora, he was born on September 29, 1913 in Norfolk, Va. He was married to the late Louise Flora, who passed away in 1999.
He was a 60 years plus member of the Corinthian Lodge #226 F & AM, Norfolk, Va., a charter member and past president of the Tusten Lions Club, Narrowsburg; a member of the American Legion Post in Eldred; and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was also a former member of the Sullivan County Sportsmen’s Federation, the NYS Conservation Council, and the Upper Delaware Council. He was also a veteran of the US Navy, having served during World War II.
Survivors include three children, Marion Tillson and her husband, Russell, of Ilion, Susan Schott of Honesdale, Pa., and Patricia Wulforst of West Hempstead; one sister, Barbara Boyce of Tuttle, Okla.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a special niece, Bettie Baxter of Virginia Beach, Va., as well as many other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Walter, Henry, Alfred and Marvin; and by one sister, Gladys.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 23 at the Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home in Narrowsburg with the Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating.
Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 95 Schwenk Drive, Kingston, New York 12401.

Tabitha K. Joslin, 24

Tabitha K. Joslin, a resident of Liberty for three years, formerly of Monticello, died Tuesday, August 19, 2003, in Swan Lake. She was 24 years of age.
The daughter of Christopher P. Joslin and Linda M. Wagner Joslin, she was born on January 21, 1979 in Bradenton, Fla. She was a graduate of Monticello Central School.
Survivors include her parents, Christopher P. and Linda M. Wagner Joslin of Roscoe; a daughter, Gabriella Conklin of Liberty; a brother, Brandon Joslin of Liberty; a fiance, William Conklin Jr. of Liberty; great grandparents Christian and Beatrice Seyler of Middletown; uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 25 at the Cornelius, Dodd and Connell Funeral Home, Middletown with the Rev. Kenneth Wonderland officiating.
Interment was in Wallkill Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
