LIBERTY — June 17, 2003 – The Sullivan County BOCES Special Education Graduation held on June 13 is just one of the many graduations to come this month, but it held special meaning for everyone there.
The ceremony occurred at the BOCES Rubin Pollack Education Center in Liberty.
This year’s theme, “You Are The Future,” was reflected throughout the ceremony.
Shawn Ferguson was the class speaker and had much to say about his years at BOCES while congratulating his class. Ferguson also won the Gene Smith School To Work Award.
After Heather Hinkley sang “A Better World” to the graduates, a slide show was presented, showing the class’ evolution at BOCES, bringing them to the next chapter in their lives.
Jessica Rose Boyles won the Peter Scurastone Memorial Award, while Marta Colon won the Sullivan County Cares Coalition Award. Devin Bowers won the BOCES Board Award, and Cindy Pate won the CASA Award.
James Faraci received the President’s Academic Achievement Award, while Sunny Hoffman won the Thelma Newman Award.
The following students graduated: Devin Bowers, Roscoe Central School; Jessica Rose Boyles, Liberty Central School; Marta Colon, Fallsburg Central School; James Faraci, Tri-Valley Central School; Shawn Ferguson, Monticello Central School; James Giacobe, Liberty Central School; Robert Genovese, Monticello Central School; Sunny Hoffman, Fallsburg Central School; Tim Landis, Monticello Central School; Amanda Mott, Livingston Manor Central School; Robert Mullins, Monticello Central School; Cindy Pate, Monticello Central School; John Ross Santos, Monticello Central School; Laura Shaver, Monticello Central School; and Marlene Soler, Monticello Central School.
