Girls' Soccer Season

Overall Record: 10-8-2

League Record: 3-4-1 OCIAA Division VI

Statistical Leaders: Senior striker Liz Lowe scored 32 goals during the 2002 season. She recorded 61 goals during her varsity career.
Junior striker Jill Knox registered 13 goals and 9 assists on the season.

Season Highlight: “Our match against Chester in the first round of sectionals,” said Coach Mary Feusner. “The kids made up their minds to reach the sectionals again and reached that goal.”
T-V was defeated by Tuxedo, 3-1, on October 31 in the Section IX Class C championship game. However, Feusner noted that in the three matches versus the Lady Tornadoes this past season, T-V was outscored by a 10-6 margin. In two matches versus Tuxedo in the 2001 season, T-V was outscored by a 14-1 margin.

Other: At the recent team banquet, senior defender Heather Bachmann was named the Lady Bears’ Most Valuable Player (MVP).
“She’s a great defensive player who anticipates the play,” Feusner said.
Senior Allison Thayer was recognized as the team’s Most Improved Player (MIP).
“She really stepped up her game this season,” Feusner noted.
The coach, who gave out 14 letters, also praised the work of senior goalie Lauren Dilberian, noting that Dilberian “dedicated herself to becoming a better player” for the 2002 season.
