Morris Gimple
Ret. Hotelman

Morris Gimple, a 20-year resident of Hurleyville, died Monday, July 8, 2002.
He had been a successful coin-meter operator before he began his second career as owner/operator of Gilbert's Hotel in South Fallsburg from which he retired.
He is survived by a daughter, Freda, and Ann Gilbert, his longtime companion and business partner.
No further information was made available.

Mario Premus, 82
Ret. Maintenance Mech.

Mario (Mariano Giovanni Emilio) Premus of Bloomingburg, a maintenance mechanic for Orange County Residential Health Care in Goshen and a 48-year area resident, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at the Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen. He was 82 years of age.
The son of the late John and Antonia Carcich Premus, he was born June 25, 1920, in Italy. He was the widower of Mary Nadalin Premus.
Mr. Premus was the retired owner/operator of M. Premus Welding in Goshen.
He is survived by a son, Gerald Premus of Bloomingburg; two daughters, Judith Schoelkopf of Mamaroneck and Jennifer Premus of New Orleans, La.; and three brothers, Anthony Premus, Graziano Premus and Guiliano Premus. He was predeceased by a brother, John Premus.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Saturday at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Goshen.
Burial was made in St. John's Cemetery in Goshen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Stephanie Bitjeman
Neonatal Nurse Prac., 49

Stephanie Fuller Bitjeman, a 41-year resident of Liberty, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown, following a long illness. She was 49 years of age.
The daughter of William and Glennie Singleton Fuller, she was born November 17, 1952, in Savannah, Ga.
A 1971 graduate of Liberty High School, she graduated as a registered nurse from Orange County Community College in May of 1976 and as a pediatric nurse practitioner from Columbia University in December 1991. In March of 1996 she earned her degree as a neonatal nurse practitioner from Columbia University.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Bitjeman, at home; a step-son, Dillon Bitjeman and his wife, Joann of Liberty; her father of Liberty; her mother, Glennie Mae Williams, of Bayminette, Ala.; four brothers, Rickey Singleton of Binghamton, William Charles Fuller of Monticello, Dudley Fuller of Albany and Aaron Fuller of Baltimore, Md.; a special niece, Chelsea Fuller; and a special nephew, Matthew Fuller. She was predeceased by a son, Eric Spencer Fuller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Peter's R.C. Church, 264 North Main St., Liberty.
Cremation will be made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Rollin Cook Sr.
Chemist, 60

Rollin B. Cook Sr. of Bloomingburg, a chemist at Fleurchem Company in Middletown and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at his home. He was 60 years of age.
The son of Norma B. Blake Cook and the late Harold C. Cook, he was born August 19, 1941, in Middletown.
Mr. Cook was a member of the United Church of Christ in New Vernon and a longtime member of the Middletown Bowling Association.
He is survived by his mother of Bloomingburg, his wife, Patricia A. Steele Cook, at home; a daughter, Lisa DeBeauvernet of Bloomingburg; two sons, Rollin B. Cook Jr. of Mill Rift, Pa., and Andrew J. Cook of Bloomingburg; two grandchildren, Courtney DeBeauvernet and Corinne DeBeauvernet; and several cousins.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ in New Vernon.
Burial will be made in the Bloomingburg Cemetery in Bloomingburg.

Florence Ash
Ret. Payroll Super, 89

Florence Ash of Woodridge and Flushing, a retired payroll supervisor for SONY Corp in New York, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 89 years of age.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Hodes Kolansky, she was born May 1, 1913, in Woodbourne. She was the widow of Irving Ash who died in 1966.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Alan Rosenshein of Woodridge; two granddaughters, Ilana J. Rosenshein and Joannie Rosenshein; and a brother, Richard Kolansky of East Meadow.
Graveside services and burial were made in the Wellwood Cemetery in Pinelawn.

Joan M. McManus
Receptionist, 66

Joan M. McManus of Monticello, a receptionist for various resorts in the area and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 66 years of age.
The daughter of the late Thomas and Ann Blutte McGrath, she was born October 21, 1935, in the Bronx. She was the widow of Frank McManus.
Mrs. McManus attended St. Peter's Church in Monticello.
She is survived by a daughter, Christine Martin of Moyock, N.C.; a sister, Ann Brawley of Monticello; and four grandchildren, Trisha Schmitz, Michelle Schmitz, Jacqulyn Schmitz and Michael Schmitz. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward Clohessy.
A Memorial Mass was offered Monday at St. Peter's Church in Monticello with Fr. Tim Wiggins officiating.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Mildred E. Shafer
Ret. RN, 89

Mildred E. Shafer of Glen Spey, a retired registered nurse, a retired postal clerk for the Glen Spey Post Office and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at the Milford Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center in Westfall, Pa. She was 89 years of age.
The daughter of the late Clifford and Annie McGavin Bunnell, she was born February 19, 1913, in Mashoppen, Pa. She was the widow of Jack W. Shafer.
Mrs. Shafer was a member of the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church and a former longtime Sunday School superintendent. She was also a member of the Lumberland Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Shafer is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert P. and Vanta Shafer of Seward, Alaska, and Jack B. and Carla Shafer and Jay H. and Linda Shafer, all of Glen Spey; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Shafer of Charlotte, N.C.; several grandchildren; a great-grandchild; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews.
Services were held Monday at the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating.
Interment was private.

Charles Taylor, 31
Plumbing/Heating Emply.

Charles A. "Charlie" Taylor of Barryville, an employee of the Barryville Plumbing & Heating Company and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at his home. He was 31 years of age.
The son of Robert J. and Susan Ellen Sheehan Taylor, he was born November 15, 1970, in Port Jervis.
A 1989 graduate of Port Jervis High School, he attended Orange County Community College and was a licensed lumberman in the state of West Virginia. He served as a medic at the Great Lakes Naval Base while serving in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his parents of Port Jervis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Willard F. and Elizabeth Mager Taylor and Eugene and Doretta Fink Sheehan.
Services were held Monday at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Mary's R.C. Church with Father Sahayaraj Arokiasamy officiating.
Burial was made in St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Jervis.

Mary J. Callan
Medical Biller, 46

Mary J. Callan of Walden, a medical biller with EMJS Medical Billing in Walden and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 46 years of age.
The daughter of Joan Warren Mabee and the late Ira Mabee, she was born August 12, 1955, in Middletown.
Mrs. Callan was a member of Woodmen of the World.
She is survived by her husband, Huntley "Bucky" Callan Sr., at home; her mother of Middletown; five children, Huntley Callan Jr., at home, Cheryl Callan of Walden, Christopher G. Callan of Ridgewood, N.J., and Danielle M. Callan and Michael J. "Mouse" Callan, both at home; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ira J. and Jo Mabee of Boca Raton, Fla., and Charles Mabee of Middletown; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and William Brown of Bloomingburg and Janice and Sgt. Carlos Perez of Ft. Huachuca, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, 72 West Main St., Middletown.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in the Wallkill Cemetery in Phillipsburg.

Robert L. McKeon
Retired Teacher, 73

Robert Lincoln McKeon of Middletown, a retired teacher, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at the Orange County Residential Health Care Center. He was 73 years of age.
The son of the late John and Margaret O'Brien McKeon, he was born February 12, 1929, in Bronxville.
In a statement by friends, it was said, "His friends remember him as a faithful and reverent man with a good sense of humor. He endured great suffering in his life, and never lost his faith. Those who met him loved him, and his spirituality was an inspiration to others."
He is survived by close friends, Cathy Ripley of Middletown, Brother Jim Andrews, O. Carm., of Middletown, Deacon Richard McCarthy of Monroe, and many other friends in the Middletown area.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at St. Albert's Chapel at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown.
Burial was made in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery in Bloomingburg.

William Danzer Jr.
Ret. Garageman, 84

William Danzer Jr., a five-year resident of Nettles Island, Jensen Beach, Fla., a former Youngsville resident and former owner of Danzer's Garage in Youngsville, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at the West Palm Beach Veterans Care Center in Florida. He was 84 years of age.
The son of the late William Sr. and Addie Vielie Danzer, he was born July 21, 1918, in Yonkers.
Mr. Danzer was a 62-year member of the Youngsville Fire Department, a member of the Happy Footers Square Dance Club and the Community Reformed Church of Youngsville. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel Bryan Danzer, at home; a daughter, Diann Jamieson of Youngsville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Frances Danzer of Warner Robins, Ga., and Craig and Cherie Danzer of Oswego; six grandchildren, Lisa Cook, Kim Crowley, Cassy Danzer, Jayne Danzer, David Danzer and Charles Danzer; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Andrew and Christopher Cook; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Evelyn Danzer of Lewisburg, N.C.; and five nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in the Youngsville Presbyterian Cemetery in Youngsville.

Michael V. Harden

Michael V. Harden of North Branch, a former New Hyde Park resident, died Sunday, July 21, 2002.
He is survived by three children, Henry, Teresa and Kamila; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Macieik. He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine Harden.
Friends may call at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home, 506 Lakeville Rd., New Hyde Park, on Tuesday from 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:45 a.m. at St. Hedwig's R.C. Church in Floral Park.
Interment will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery in Obernburg.

Rudy Mayer, 91

Rudy "Boots" Mayer of Stewart, Fla., a former resident of Livingston Manor, died Friday, July 19, 2002, in Stewart, Fla. He was 91 years of age.
The widower of Katherine Mayer, who died December 23, 1997, he was born June 21, 1911, in New York City.
Mr. Mayer is survived by three sons, Eugene E. Flynn of Suffern, Thomas Mayer of Stewart, Fla., and Randall Mayer of Central Valley; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Father Collins, pastor of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Livingston Manor.
