Barbara Beck
Legal Secretary, 70

Barbara Beck of Liberty, a legal secretary for her husband's law practice and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, January 15, 2002, in Boca Raton, Fla. She was 70 years of age.
The daughter of the late Meyer and Sarah Bromberg Melnick, she was born November 14, 1931, in Passaic, N.J.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred Beck, at home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan and Lisa Beck of Columbus, Ohio, and Harry and Michele Beck of San Francisco, Calif.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judith and David Friedland of Liberty and Marilyn and Morton Cohen of Monticello; two grandsons, Alexander and Adam; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at Congregation Ahavath Israel Synagogue in Liberty with Rabbi Marvin Goldman officiating.
Burial will be made in Congregation Ahavath Israel Synagogue Cemetery in Liberty.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.

Robert J. Smith
Laborer, 21

Robert Junior Smith, a longtime resident of Monticello and an employee of Murray's Chickens in South Fallsburg, died Friday, January 11, 2002, in South Fallsburg. He was 21 years of age.
The son of Rev. Willie and Era Mae Robinson Smith, he was born November 2, 1980, in Detroit, Mich.
He is survived by his parents, at home; two brothers, Arthur Mack and Bruce Smith, both of Monticello; two sisters, Rose Blankship of Greenville, Ala., and Amanda Smith of Monticello. He was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Williams.
Friends may call at the Friendship Baptist Church in Ferndale on Saturday from noon to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Norman Graves and Rev. Edward Miller officiating.
Interment will be made in Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.

Shiean A. Longe, 5

Shiean Aquaisha Longe of South Fallsburg died Friday, January 11, 2002, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was five years of age.
The daughter of Willie Rainey and Michelle Longe, she was born July 24, 1996, in Binghamton.
Shiean loved to dance and sing, loved pets and loved drinking lots of water. In her words, "Yes, my life was too short, but please don't be afraid. You will always have me with you. Just look deep inside your hearts and smile when you remember the joyous times when I danced, laughed and played, and know that I'll see you on that special day."
She is survived by her mother, at home; her father of Binghamton; her maternal grandfather, David Longe of New York City; her maternal grandmother, Esther Longe of Fallsberg, her paternal grandmother, Betty Roman of Queens; a sister, Alicia Rainey, at home; and a host of aunts, uncles, family and friends.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St., Monticello, on Monday from 10 a.m. until noon.
Services will be held at the funeral home at noon with Mr. Alphonso McGruder and Rev. Mervin Armstead officiating.
Burial will be made in Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pediatric ICU at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. 10595.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement.

Mary O. Bray
Homemaker, 85

Mary O'Dwyer Bray, a more than 30 year resident of Liberty and a former resident of Washington Heights and the Bronx, died on Tuesday, January 15, 2002, at the Sun Bridge Rehabilitation Center in Milford, Mass. She was 85 years of age.
The daughter of the late John and Bridget Cronin O'Dwyer, she was born in Limerick City, Ireland, in September of 1916.
In a family statement, it was said, "She will be deeply missed."
Mrs. Bray was a member of the Court Mary Anthony of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Paul's Senior Citizens and St. Peter's Rosary Society, all in Liberty; and the Friendly Sons and Daughters of St. Patrick in Orange County.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joseph Bray, at home; five children, Una Bray of Greenwich, Aine Skyler of Brooklyn, Sean Bray of County Limerick, Ireland, Mairad Bray of Hopkinton, Mass., and Patrick Bray of Northboro, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Deirdre Cornhiser, Tara Keane, David Skyler, Joseph Bray, Alexandra Skyler, Molly Bray-Hayes and Lelia Bray-Musso; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan Keane and Jennifer Keane.
Services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Marjorie A. Bartschi
Homemaker, 59

Marjorie A. Bartschi of Roscoe, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002, in Lisle. She was 59 years of age.
The daughter of Elizabeth Marks Burns and the late Harold Burns, she was born December 28, 1942.
She is survived by her husband, Willy A. Bartschi, at home; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Christopher A. and Toni Bartschi of Lisle, Eric D. Bartschi of Honesdale, Pa., and Willy H. Bartschi and Patrick R. Bartschi, both of Roscoe; her mother of Douglasville, Ga.; a brother, Gary Burns of Douglasville, Ga.; and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cindy L. Bartschi who died September 29, 1990.
Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Roscoe, on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert L. Wood officiating.
Burial will be made in Riverview Cemetery in Roscoe.
