Richard E. Anderson
Car Salesman, 72

Richard Earl Anderson of Colonial Heights, Va., a car salesman for White's Automotive Sales in Chester, Va., died February 20, 2001, at his home. He was 72 years of age.
The son of the late Mark and Alice Anderson, he was born in Sullivan County.
Mr. Anderson spent his youth in the western end of Sullivan County and was a graduate of Delaware Valley Central School, Class of 1945. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ethel "Sis" Doetsch Anderson, at home; two daughters, Susan Anderson of San Diego, Calif., and Donna Lee Troutman and her husband, Curtis, of Cressona, Pa.; two sons, Richard Anderson of Colonial Heights, Va., and Terry Anderson of Boston, Mass.; two grandchildren, Kristi Anderson and J. C. Anderson, both of Colonial Heights, Va. He was predeceased by a son, Gary Anderson.
Private interment of the cremains will be made in the Callicoon Cemetery at a later date.

Anton Andree
Ret. Ind. Engineer, 89

Anton Andree of Roscoe, a retired industrial engineer for Otis Elevator Company in Yonkers, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home in Roscoe. He was 89 years of age.
The son of the late Anton and Mathilda Grossman Andree, he was born March 1, 1912, in the Bronx.
Mr. Andree was a member of Nepperhan Masonic Lodge in Yonkers; the Grand Director of Masonic Ceremonies 1976-1977 of the Grand Lodge; a member of the First Westchester & Putnam Lions & Moose; and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was also a former member of the Delaware Valley Senior Citizens in Callicoon.
He is survived by his wife, Elvira Forsblom Andree, at home; a daughter, Barbara Wilson of Mamaroneck; a sister, Marie Bullwinkle of Sarasota, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville with the Rev. Kristen Anderson officiating.
Burial was made in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson.

Ann E. Edwards
Homemaker, 81

Ann E. Edwards of Liberty, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 81 years of age.
The daughter of the late George and Emma Fisher Muthig, she was born January 30, 1920, in Neversink. She was the widow of Fred Edwards who died October 2, 1962.
Mrs. Edwards was a member of St. Peter's Church and the Sullivan County Co-operative Extension Busy Bees Club, both in Liberty, and was a member of the Foster Grandmother's Program at the Liberty Elementary School.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Fred and Diane Edwards, Harry and Barbara Edwards and Frankie Edwards, all of Liberty; two daughters, Patricia Isdall of Mexico, N.Y., and Mariann "Mitzie" Norris of Swan Lake; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. David McCarthy officiating.
Burial will be made in the Orchard Street Cemetery in Livingston Manor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Liberty.

Rose K. Abraham
Ret. Village Clerk, 83

Rose Kaplow Abraham of Del Ray Beach, Fla., a retired Village of Monticello Village Clerk and a longtime area resident, died at the Del Ray Medical Center in Del Ray, Fla., She was 83 years of age.
The daughter of the late Wolfe and Esther Cushalowitz, she was born April 19, 1917, in Leeds, England. She was the widow of Howard Kaplow and Morris Abraham.
Mrs. Abraham was a member of Temple Sholom Hadassah in Monticello and Deborah Hospital.
She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Kaplow of Rock Hill and N. Stewart Kaplow of Matawan, N.J.; three grandchildren, April, Ivan and Gary Kaplow; and several nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Shiva will be observed through Sunday, March 11 at the family home in Rock Hill.
Services were held Thursday at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello with Rabbi Irwin Tanenbaum officiating.
Burial was made in the Temple Beth Sholom Cemetery in Monticello.

Ella Louise Tetro
Homemaker, 79

Ella Louise Tetro of Middletown, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 79 years of age.
The daughter of the late Walter and Rose McDermott Dow, she was born June 5, 1921, in Middletown. She was the widow of Frederick Tetro.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rene Frederick and Lyn Tetro of Abingdon, Va., and Laurent Dow and Margo Tetro of Bloomingburg; two sisters, Geneava Newcomer of Baldwin, and Wilma Worden of Branchville, N.J., and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Tetro was predeceased by a brother, Walter Dow Jr. and a sister, Doris Weichsel.
Services were held Thursday at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home in Middletown with the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating.
Burial was made in the Bloomingburg Cemetery in Bloomingburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Middletown Humane Society.

Leonard Schwartz
Ret. Deli Owner, 69

Leonard Schwartz of Monticello, the former owner and operator of Schwartz Deli in Monticello and a theme decorator in various area hotels, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. He was 69 years of age.
The son of the late Irving and Lillian Kaplowitz Schwartz, he was born March 12, 1931, in New York City.
A graduate of Monticello High School and an All-DUSO Basketball player, he was a veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Schwartz is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Joseph Mantia of Kiamesha Lake; a son, Robert Schwartz of Kiamesha Lake; a brother, Martin Schwartz of Long Island; two sisters, Sherly Marantz of Fort Lee, N.J., and Joan Kasofsky and her husband, Larry, of Woodridge; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty with Rabbi Irwin Tanenbaum officiating.

Martha Giangiacomo
Ret. Social Wkr., 77

Martha F. Giangiacomo (Como) of Ferndale, a retired social worker for the Sullivan County Department of Social Services and a 40-year area resident, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris. She was 77 years of age.
The daughter of the late Francis and Georgianna LaTerra Catalfumo, she was born February 22, 1924, in New York City.
An active member of the community, she was a member of St. Peter's Church, Court Mary Anthony of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Town of Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Town of Liberty Republican Committee, all in Liberty, and Worldwide Marriage Encounter Community. She specialized in foster care all of her life.
She is survived by her husband, John Giangiacomo (Como) of Ferndale; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Susan Giangiacomo of Ferndale; a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and William DeBlasio of Huntington; three brothers, Moses Catalfumo of Port Richey, Fla., Israel Catalfumo of Brooklyn and Daniel Catalfumo of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Madeline Catalfumo of Brooklyn and Anna DeCaro of Tuckerton, N.J.; five grandchildren, William C. DeBlasio Jr., Lisa M. Dunn, and Jonathan, Joseph and Jennifer Giangiacomo; and four great-grandchildren, James P. Kohler, William W. and Nicholas DeBlasio and Kassidy Dunn.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 South Main St., Liberty, on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday at 11:45 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Liberty with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating.
Burial will be made in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.

Rudolph Pfanstiel
Ret. Corr. Officer, 69

Rudolph Pfanstiel of Youngsville, a retired New York State Department of Corrections officer and a 29-year area resident, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at his home. He was 69 years of age.
The son of the late Hugo and Caroline Renner Pfanstiel, he was born January 8, 1932, in the Bronx.
A Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of the Clarence Hoyt Post No. 9217, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Liberty. He was also a member of Livingston Manor Lodge #791, F.&A.M., the Livingston Manor Senior Citizens and St. George's Roman Catholic Church in Jeffersonville.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Pfanstiel, at home; two sons, Scott D. Pfanstiel and his wife, Laticia, of Strathmore, Calif., and Douglas L. Pfanstiel of Chanhassen, Minn.; a sister, Joy Newman of Boca Raton, Fla.; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. George's Roman Catholic Church in Jeffersonville with the Rev. Robert Nee officiating.
Cremation will be made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Pearl M. Malek
Homemaker, 83

Pearl Majka Malek of New Hampton, a homemaker and longtime area resident, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown. She was 83 years of age.
The daughter of the late Victor and Felicia Subzda Kalesa, she was born October 11, 1917, in Throop, Pa.
Mrs. Malek was a member of St. Andrew Bobola Living Rosary Society.
She is survived by three daughters, Vivian Grey of Middletown, Arlene Houck of Westbrookville and Brenda Pahucki of New Hampton; two sons, Ronald Majka of Goshen and Julius Malek of New Hampton; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Thursday at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Florida, N.Y.
Burial was made in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Anning R. Prall
Ret. Businessman, 69

Anning R. Prall of Glen Spey, a retired businessman and a descendant of early Staten Island settlers, died Saturday, February 24, 2001, at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 69 years of age.
He was born in Westerleigh, L.I.
The Prall family first settled in Staten Island in the 1700s. Mr. Prall was the grandson of Anning S. Prall who was the Staten Island Congressman from 1923 to 1931 and who was also appointed chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. Prall Intermediate School in West Brighton, S.I., is named after him.
Mr. Prall moved to Glen Spey from Great Kills after his retirement in 1991 because he loved the wildlife and natural beauty of Glen Spey.
A graduate of Port Richmond High School, he was a veteran of the Korean War, stationed in Japan.
Mr. Prall was co-owner of the Staten Island Sewing Center, Inc., from 1947-1977 which was located first in Port Richmond and then in New Dorp. He then owned Karmelkorn Shoppes, Inc., a confectionery store in the Staten Island Mall from 1977 until his retirement.
He was a member of the Staten Island Marksmen Rifle Club and was an avid fisherman and boating enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling to various locations in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Prall is survived by his wife of 20 years, Frances Erdmann Prall, at home; a son, Richard Tope, and three daughters, Marissa Gentile, Michelle Tope and Alice May Reynard, all of Staten Island; and six grandchildren.
Services were held February 27 in Willowbrook, S.I.
Burial was made in the Prall family plot in Moravian Cemetery in New Dorp.

Abelardo Santiago, 45

Abelardo Santiago of the Bronx died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx. He was 45 years of age.
The son of the late Carmello and Edelmira Rodriguez Santiago, he was born July 31, 1955, in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
He is survived by his wife, Juana Velezquez Santiago, and two sons, Steve Santiago and Abelardo Joshua Santiago, all at home; two daughters, Annette Echevarria and Jennifer Santiago, both of the Bronx; two brothers, Miguel Santiago of Liberty and Carmello Santiago of Manhattan; a sister, Olga Santiago of Brooklyn; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl St., Livingston Manor, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Aloysius Church in Livingston Manor on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Alfred Croke officiating.
Burial will be made in St. Aloysius Cemetery in the spring.

John F. Ellmauer
Ret. Svc. Manager, 69

John F. "Jack" Ellmauer of Youngsville, a retired service manager for Agway Petroleum Products in Liberty and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, March 5, 2001, in Fort Pierce, Fla. He was 69 years of age.
The son of the late George and Louise Kispert Ellmauer, he was born February 4, 1932, in Fremont Center.
Mr. Ellmauer served for 30 years as a Town of Callicoon Councilman. He was a member of the Community Reformed Church in Youngsville, a member of the Youngsville Fire Department, a charter member of the Happy Footers Square Dance Club in Youngsville, a Republican Committeeman for the Town of Callicoon and a member of the Sullivan County Extension Service.
He is survived by his wife, June Hubert Ellmauer, at home; two daughters, Cindy Ellmauer of Youngsville and Susan Munyan and her husband, David, of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; a son, Michael Ellmauer and his wife, Patricia, of Youngsville; a sister, Lois Korth of Livingston Manor; four granddaughters, Kelsey and Lauren Munyan and Jacqueline and Alexandra Ellmauer; and a grandson, Mitchell Ellmauer. He was predeceased by a sister, Louise Korth and a brother, Theodore Ellmauer.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Robert McLeod officiating.
Burial will be made in the Greenhill Cemetery in Youngsville.

Raymond L. Craft
Housekeeper, 57

Raymond L. Craft of East Branch, an employee of the Roscoe Nursing Home in housekeeping, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at the Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton. He was 57 years of age.
The son of the late Sylvester and Beulah King Craft, he was born August 1, 1943, in Baltimore, Md.
Mr. Craft was a member of the East Branch Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 19 1/2 years, Debbra Ebert Craft, at home; five daughters, Jon-Ann Norton of Ukiah, Calif., Rae-Ann Noble and her husband, Victor, of Poyntelle, Pa., Rickie Sue Craft of Cochecton, Barbara Jo Craft of East Branch and Bette Bojo and her husband, Jason, of Walton; a brother, Richard Craft of Downsville; ten grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter in 1993.
A memorial service was held at the East Branch Community Church in East Branch with the Rev. Paul Cicio officiating.

Elaine T. Orr
Homemaker, 74

Elaine T. Orr of Liberty, a homemaker, a longtime secretary of the Sullivan County SPCA in Rock Hill and a more than 50-year area resident, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at the Seelig Division of Community General Hospital in Harris from complications of lung cancer and a stroke. She was 74 years of age.
The daughter of the late Angus and Lena Finnegan Deragon, she was born June 29, 1926, in Malone.
She is survived by her husband, William B . Orr of Liberty; two daughters, Lynn Orr Fancher of Liberty and Nancy Orr Rainey of Leavenworth, Wash.; two grandchildren, Ian Orr and Michelle Fancher, both of Liberty; a sister, Rita Perry of Rouses Point; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was offered Wednesday at St. Peter's Church in Liberty with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan County SPCA, Rock Hill, N.Y. 12775.
