Woodstone Moving Along

By Matt Youngfrau
BETHEL — April 17, 2001 – Bethel developer Steve Dubrovsky has been noticeably busy building houses throughout that area in recent years.
And contrary to a recent report, he’s planning to stay busy with his new Woodstone Development project on the Toronto Reservoir in the Town of Bethel.
In an interview last week, Dubrovsky said he has divided his housing project into two phases. The homes will be built on 300 acres of land.
Phase One, which has passed final approval with local officials, includes the construction of 19 houses. At least three homes are currently under construction, and more are set to begin soon, Dubrovsky said.
Phase Two has preliminary approval but still needs final approval. That phase would include 16 houses.
The project on the 300 acres of land has been active, he added. Roads have already been built, and electricity and phone lines have been installed.
Dubrovsky wanted to construct a golf course on the site. However, that plan was recently withdrawn. Dubrovsky admits that the plan was not fully thought out, and he ran into some difficult questions from the DEC. He did say that another proposal for a golf course may come at some point down the road.
"We will look carefully at it and decide what to do," Dubrovsky stated. "We are in the housing business, not the golfing business."
The project should be completed by next year, he remarked.
