Impressive Wins in 13-17 Group

CALLICOON — July 14, 2000 – The Catskill Junior Tour hosted its Time Warner Junior Classic last Thursday at the Villa Roma CC in Callicoon.
Ninety-two golfers finished the par-72, 6,400-yard course.
“It went well,” said Tour president Tom DuPlessis. “The scores were a little higher [compared to last year’s tournament]and play could have been faster, but for the most part the kids played well.”
DuPlessis speculated that last year’s Time Warner took place two weeks later in the season and the course was drier, accounting for the better scores.
“There was no roll on the course this year,” DuPlessis noted.
The low overall score for the day was a 75 shot by Erin LoPinto of East Branch.
Sean Semenetz of Jeffersonville had the low score for the boys with a 77 to win the 13-17 division. Sean was a back-to-back winner, having shot a 39 to win the boys 10-12 division last year. His brother Gregg, the Western Sullivan League (WSL) golf MVP, had to drop out with an injury.
This year, the boys 10-12 division went to a playoff between David Resnick and Jordan Stack that lasted two holes. David won with a two-putt on hole number two for a 4, which was enough to win the playoff.
In the girls 10-12 division, Nellie Norden beat Kaitlin Sabbagh by seven strokes with a 62. In the boys 7-9 division, Brandon Restivo squeaked by Nicholas Urso by one stroke to win. Kristen Niemann took the girls 7-9 division with a 66 for seven holes.
